morning all - hope this is in the right place!?

As news of the VIC lockdown going for another week emerges (as well as more restrictions for NSW), just checking in with everyone, especially people that live alone or have any lockdown anxieties of any kind (like me).

Hi Auton

im really feeling it today. I live alone and have just started a new job! It’s so difficult to learn a new job while wfh. I feel like I have zero confidence and don’t know what to do

how are you going today?
here to talk.

Hey Bella, yeah that's tough (learning WFH) - my wife did it last Nov, but she got there!!

Living alone is tough too - do you have a 'bubble' with someone so you're not always alone? Anyone to go walking with? (think that's ok still??)

I'm feeling ok atm thanks, quite calm with the whole thing, except the exposure sites are all getting very close, not just geographically but they're places we frequent a bit (I'm vaxxed but as we're trying for baby my wife isn't) so gotta be careful - I'm a stickler for rules anyway so think we'll be sweet.

Hey Auton and Nervybella,

It's lovely to hear from you both.

I'm in Sydney and living alone with a bunch of pets. I'm normally quite happy with being on my own, and I was fine last year, but I find the biggest challenge for me is actually trying to care for friends and family who need more social contact than I do. So, ironically, I'm communicating more with people (virtually of course) and finding that really tiring!

So it's quite interesting and nice to hear from you two with your own experiences and challenges.

Bella, congrats on the new job! The timing is unfortunate, but I am sure you'll learn in time - are your work colleagues and manager supportive?

Auton, good to hear you're a stickler for the rules. We need more of you around 🙂 It's a tough balance between being cautious but not overly panicked. But I think Aus generally has a good health system, especially in the main cities, so I trust we are in good hands regardless.

Hey Guys,

Bella, congrats on your new job, think of how this new experiences is keeping you bust during this lockdown.

I'm from VIC and am feeling a little bit disconnect today, but I went for a walk with a friend after work and it was great to get some human connection going after such a long day wfh.

We've done this before and can do it again! We just need a healthy mindset and stay strong attitude! We can do this together!

Regards,

cc

hey James - nice one with the pets - very jealous!! haha - glad to hear you're providing support too, makes a huge difference to people, i enjoy doing that too (I'm more of a giving person with help/gifts etc)

Yeah I'm a process driven person professionally so I'm kinda the same outside of work haha - i follow the rules out of respect for others basically. I'm doubled jabbed so my concern is the wider community at this point!

and yes - the healthcare here in aus has been outstanding for my wife/myself in some recent baby dramas, can't fault it.

keep strong calmcat - sounds like you've got it under control tho mostly right? And totally agree, we can get past it if everyone's on the same team and i think we mostly are at this point, which is great!

G'day everyone! I imagine world war 2 citizens closing up windows and blackening lights, like we covid war citizens brave the world armoured up with masks and no touching and hyper hygiene at every whim.

Will our grandchildren's and descendants experience a backlash against our new habits becoming ingrained today? Perhaps similar to the ww2 era attitude of do this_now because your family fought for this_then.

Hi James

all those pets will be keeping you busy I’m sure!
I feel for everyone in Sydney, these long lockdowns are so hard.

The team I work with are all very nice people but I find it difficult to connect when we aren’t face to face. Also the job is so busy that I don’t have time to meet up with my bubble person (weekends only). The days are blurring into one at the moment

nice to hear there are people out there sticking to the rules though! It’s what we need

Hi Guys!

Thank so much for the kind words Auton, I do have this under control, I going for evening walks and making yummy food to keep distracted in the evening. And thank goodness I'm working... would be a different story if I wasn't working.

With SA going into lockdown, that makes up over half of the country being in lockdown! Crazy times! But we are resilient people and can get through this no matter what!

Hope you're all keeping well and safe.

Reards,

CC
