Hi everyone,
As the title suggests, this thread is pretty much exactly as per the thread title. In some ways, I feel as though I'm a bit of a creative rut, which is awful when you're a creative person.
So I thought that I would try to ask for inspiration in terms of ideas and stories from fellow creatives. Hopefully other people also find this thread helpful in terms of reading and sharing.
So whether you're a professional or amateur graphic designer, industrial designer, architect, musician, writer, choreographer, dancer, landscaper, etc, etc...I would LOVE to hear your tips and anecdotes on how you inject creativity in your world and how your keep the creative spark alive.
Thank you!
Pepper

Morning Pepper.....have you ever been to the theatre? Go back a few days after the final night and there won't be a tangible trace of "it" left. The thing that was created for you to experience will be gone!.....
Your deep appreciation of beauty in all its forms is admirable....keep doing it, it will make you feel good... luv Me x

Hey Pepper and those reading/posting;
I like the magazine idea. It reminds me of when I created a dream board back in the day. I got a stack and went thru to find pic's and words that reflected my dream house, job and family. Yes I know, it sounds idealistic. Apparently though it's supposed to get the juices flowing.
And yes, I do get the beauty of buildings; city, rural or outback. I found a big glossy coffee table book once that showed outside toilets of Australia. Talk about beauty mate! lol
It's all personal taste, though we can be swayed by opinions of others. That's where photography comes into play. What I might see as plain or an eyesore, a keen eyed photographer will find its intricate beauty and I'll submit...easily.
Hey Quirky...as for eating dessert first, I'm with you there! Who could resist eating cheesecake before salad?
As for me, the beach is beautiful, but I have to cross very steep dunes to get there. (And back!) It's hard slog! The weather's been glorious, and the food's healthy AND tasty. Yum!
I'm off soon to morning tea for some chocolate and coconut balls we made yesterday. They're sort of like rum balls without the alcohol.
Cheers...
Sara xo

Hi,
Moon- right, of course...the theatre. Yes, I have been to the theatre before and loved it. So much thought goes into it...the acting, costuming, character development, rehearsals, props, music, stage design, etc. True, I suppose theatre productions is a little like trying to hold sand in your hand...you can hold it briefly before it slips out between your fingers. But the memory of it stays 🙂
Thanks, yes, I love beauty in all its guises. After all, one of my favourite quotes is "I don't want life to imitate art. I want life to be art" (Ernst Fischer). Everything that I do, whether it's the clothes that I wear, music that I play or the furniture in my room has some sort of aesthetic reason or vision 🙂
Sara- thanks, oh yes, dream boards and mood boards can be great motivators and sources of inspiration. It seems your dream board certainly helped you 🙂
True, beauty is certainly very subjective and I agree that photographers can challenge the visual perceptions of things.
I am very happy to hear that you are having a wonderful time and enjoying lots of sand and waves (despite the dunes lol). The coco-choc balls sound delicious. Enjoy!
Kind thoughts,
Pepper

Hi Peppermint.....your quote "I don't want life to imitate art...I want life to BE art"....you know who said that and in which movie?....it was Meryl Streep in Postcards From The Edge. the one based on Carrie Fisher's book about her life with her famous Mum Debbie Reynolds....(played in the movie by Shirley MacLaine).

Thanks Moon 🙂
Lol...no, I didn't know that but I'm a little confused now. I was looking up quotes under google images and that one popped up and it credited either Ernst Fischer or Carrie Fischer in the images...I just went with Ernst mostly because it was the first one that showed up 😉
I haven't seen that movie...so was it Meryl Streep or Carrie Fischer (?) I'm confused. lol
Kind thoughts,
Pepper

Moon and Pepper,
You are both right. Ernest Fischer is attributed as having said the quote a long time before Carrie Fisher used it in her book and movie. It gets difficult when both people have been attributed to the same quote.
Do you think one has to be original to be creative or does one have to be creative to be original?

Hi Pepper and Quirky.....yes I put it somewhat confusingly....Ernest's quote was repeated by Meryl Streep's character in the movie. She was simply "quoting his quote" I believe.
the movie was based on a book by Carrie Fisher...Postcards from the Edge. Meryl played Carrie in the movie , with Shirley Maclaine playing the mother (in real life, Debbie Reynolds). The characters were given different names though...not "Carrie and Debbie".

I admire the way Carrie Fisher was open and honest about her mental health struggles. I liked her books and that movie too. Thanks for reminding me.
She was creative in the way she used her struggles to educate others by entertaining people in her one woman shows.
Sara, the beach and balls sound great. I may start a movement for eating dessert first and see if I can start a trend!
Pepper, I enjoy your updates and quotes and words to make us think. Thanks.

Hi,
Moon and Quirky- thanks for helping me clear that up 🙂 The movie and the book sound interesting
Quirky's question: "Do you think one has to be original to be creative or does one have to be creative to be original?"
I think this is a tricky question to answer...I personally think to be 100% "original" creatively in over 7 billion people is very difficult. I tend to think there might be an element of originality in one's creative expression but some of it would also be imitation (not necessarily conscious) or shared ideas. Then again, I suppose it also depends on what each person considers "original"; one person's idea of original could be another person's idea of pedestrian.
Thanks Quirky!
Kind thoughts 🙂
