Hi Paul, thanks for your encouraging words. It is comforting to be reminded that I am not alone, that it is ok to feel what I feel, and that everyone is affected by Covid in different ways and that is ok too.
Today I am at an 8. I feel a bit better about things knowing that people are starting to wear masks when social distancing is challenging. For me, I have found supermarkets overwhelming as people in my area haven’t always been socially distancing. I actually found that wearing a mask made people more likely to move away from me.
My mother in law, who is in one of the Melbourne hotspots, had a great idea to make her own face masks and was telling me about her plans to go out to spotlight to choose fabrics and materials. Not without a mask we told her!! I was able to order my in laws some reusable masks online to be delivered later this week.

Hi Fred4761
always great to read your posts and thankyou for the super kind words too!
You took the words right out of my mouth when you mentioned people giving you more 'space' when wearing a face mask...Same here:-)
Supermarkets are also overwhelming for me as well....as social distancing doesnt really happen, unfortunately
You have a huge heart by reminding your mother in law to wear a mask Fred...and good on her for starting to make her own face masks.....can you please let her know she is a legend !
Thankyou for posting how you feel...being at an '8'..There are many people (70%) that elect to 'read only' the forums and thats fine...You have just helped more people than you know 🙂
any updates are always welcome fred
my kindest.......Paul

Hi Paul.....a disappointing side effect of the discussions on Covid....has been, for me, anyway, the loss of some "friends" and mutual sharers on this Forum (some for years) because my views on some aspects of the handling of the virus differ from theirs....my personal methods of dealing with the ensuing stress is not the same as theirs, so I feel quite outcast from what was once a close, trusting circle of online friends.
someone else mentioned they too realised that in "real life"they were at risk of losing friends whose opinions and ways of dealing with Covid differed from theirs, if they spoke what they really thought. what a shame.
Whatever happened to "agree to disagree?".....I feel very discouraged and low in spirits now......Moon S x

Hi Moon,
Well put. I hear you, I agree with you and I support you. I am fairly new to bb forums and reached out in this online format (which is a first for me) as I was struggling alone and needed a space to be heard and have a voice. It has been wonderful to connect with you, Tangney, Luna and some others. We have always been respectful in our discussions which is something we can be proud of. But unfortunately I have seen the same in real life and on forum that some people will preach goodness and openess to difference of opinion but not really practice it. Although it frustrates me, I am learning to accept that they are just words. So many in the world that offer words eg are you ok but then don't follow through. I have had help from the support lines to raise me to a higher understanding that we who are able to practice the agree to disagree actually have a very good trait in that. So congrats to us. Discussion and varied opinions and learning of others experiences and how they cope and what they feel and think should be embraced not stifled. Please keep sharing your thoughts...they make me think too.

Hello Everyone! Thankyou for being a part of the discussion too 🙂
Hey Moon....Your input is just as valued as mine or anyone else's and you have made an excellent point about Covid having an effect on relationships...That doesnt mean your point of view isnt respected...You have been on the forums for a very long time and have always been a huge help to myself and others! Its always a bonus to read your posts Moon x
Hey golden82....we have chatted prior to this virus and great to see you here! Im sorry you are frustrated when you mentioned 'some people on forum will preach goodness and openess to difference of opinion but not really practice it'.....Your thoughts are always welcome like anyone elses' Golden82. If you want to share how Covid-19 has impacted your life you are always welcome (as per the thread topic) Being judgemental doesnt help anyone on the forums..
Golden82....The people on the forums dont preach to anyone..If you can please stay on topic it would be helpful.
my kind thoughts

Hello Paul and everyone else, we have to understand that the more the impact of this virus has on you, the more susceptible you, and prone for this to affect your mental illness enormously.
Your therapy is now going to include this in discussions with your counsellor, as it should, but the initial reasons why you are seeing someone can not be pushed aside.
Look after yourselves.
Take care.
Geoff.

Geoff's comment Your therapy is now going to include this in discussions with your counsellor, as it should, but the initial reasons why you are seeing someone can not be pushed aside. is very true. Trying to prioritise so that the important issues are addressed is essential. It is easy to get caught up in the most recent /pressing issues.
I'm fluctuating wildly between 8 & 10. Really struggling because I can't get the supports I need.

Hello everyone...
I would have to say that about 3 weeks ago I was at 7..living in a small rural village the COVID-19 hasn’t been here, nor in the closest town, where I shop and do volunteer work..
Hearing the latest news about the hot spots in the south western Sydney suburbs has raised me to an 8...My eldest son works only a few kilometres from the breakout of COVID..my youngest in living in the middle of one of the hot spots...which is now really concerning me as we don’t really communicate as much as I would like too...
I have to put my faith in them that they will do all that’s required of them and a bit more..to keep their families safe..as they are both living and working in the outbreak infected areas...Which I am sure they will do...
I feel really sorry for everyone who’s been impacted by this horrible virus..hoping and praying it will disappear very soon... until it does disappear...and it will..Please keep yourselves as safe as you can...
Kind thoughts, care and hugs..
Grandy..
