Hello
its been a while since I have been on here.
Yesterday I witnessed a traumatic incident and have felt very sad and extremely low since. There has been some loss in my life over the past few years, not sure if this is the catalyst?
I’m trying to go about my day(s) since this event however I am struggling, but don’t want to actually tell everyone what happened, how do I explain to others how I’m feeling, without having to explain the whole story, I’m fine with close friends but what about at work etc.
any insight would be appreciated xx

I suffer from PTSD and find your question difficult to answer in the most emphatic way.
How can you express your feelings if you can’t talk them out.
I just wanted to tell you that you don’t have to tell anyone,anything you aren’t comfortable doing.
You can use vagueness in your sentence about how you are feeling if asked. Like “you are going through some personal things”. Or thank them for asking,but let them know you have a personal support team/system helping you through this at home/outside of the workplace.
You never have to give specifics if you don’t want to.
I am sorry you’re going through this and understand how the mind and body can shift and change after something horrible. They are trying to process what has happened to you and keep you safe at the same time,meaning the amount that your brain can handle,process and come to an understanding that is appropriate for you as an individual. Some days you can handle more than others. You only have to focus on today. You maybe in shock,and that can slow things down significantly. It can also make our brains ask so many questions that we don’t have answers to today. And that can exhaust you before lunchtime.
Please look after yourself. Maybe some self-care and leaning on safe people for support. And if you need to, your GP, is a good place to start if the struggle goes on longer then you had hoped or interrupts your daily life.
