Hi all,

I'm new to this forum. I'd like to introduce myself. I'm 40 years of age, female. My interests include music (any genre), reading a great novel, watching comedy, Restuaranting, and learning new things. I suffer from depression and anxiety. Depression feels very lonely for me. I'd like to reach out for some support. Thank you.

Hello,

Is it just depression you've been diagnosed with? And, how do you sleep? Do you suffer from any traumas? Your hearing things could perhaps be that you were ripped from your sleep? Sometimes when we just wake up from a deep sleep and adjusting our bodies to wake mode, our minds do funny things. I ask these questions because they're something to factor into.

I’ve not been with depression yet but my gp strongly believes I do have depression and she had me pre antidepressants do this psychologists quiz which I scored very high in. Yes I’ve been diagnosed with sleep apnea, how have a cpap machine to help me sleep and have been prescribed medication to help me sleep at night but I’m having problems sleeping at night again. As to your 2nd & 3rd question the answers are no to both. And I also experience anxiety so bad I have panic attacks sometimes were I feel like I can’t breathe.

I have anxieties and at times panic attacks also. These days my panic attacks are subsiding. They haven't been that bad since I left my violent relationship some 6 years ago now. When I was with him, I got them really bad. At times I couldn't breathe and at times I couldn't even function.

Sleep apnea is a serious sleep problem that affects many things including your breathing, gasping for air when you're asleep. Your sleep is usually interrupted by this sleeping disorder. I don't think you're going 'crazy' at all. I think you just need more restful and continuous sleep 🙂

I'm going to try get some sleep now. I'll msg you in da morning (or afternoon) when I wake. Slept tight. x

Hi Bluberry,

I'm stuck in a wanting to be free of being drugged rut and feeling like crap but having to wait it out until I get my supportive reports.

Good news. I've had four sessions with my clinical psychologist and he's ruled out bipolar. Still have more sessions and testing to go.

I went to work y'day. It was ok. Just wish I felt like my old self really. I used to be so full of life and energy!

Sounds like you've been through a real lot in your life Bluberry!

Good morning girls.

I'm so grateful for this forum and I'm so grateful you all came here.

I can see us all drawing strength from each other.

It's so beautiful.

I'm doing really well thankyou (surprisingly lo). But I just saw a hammer and thought "I'd better put that away so (demon) doesn't hit me with it"... so maybe it'll take a while to feel safer. I put it away still lol.

I quit the (shaming) psych last week and with lots of reading / listening, I feel amazing 99% of the time now. I got the best out of her, so that's ok.

Great news for my youngest daughter. Victim's Services told me yesterday that she has SO MANY free SA psych appts. She's doing SO MUCH better but I'm wary and watching lol. We put some minor changes into her life (I'm sure she has O.D.D. for reasons I know of - misplaced - but there still the same). She is not "compliant" with all recommendations lol but very well behaved for a teenager who;s been through so much abuse.

After I told her about Victim's Services stuff safe and locked in for her (compensation payment also) she came to life... completely put her new bed together by herself and cleaned up her room! She even wore her dancing things whilst doing it which is a big thing for her. (Fear of males seeing her body etc).

I think she'll "come out" sooner or later by some of the conversations she initiates around the dinner table lol. She knows we're all fine with whatever and we all say how we love the way she supports her friends going through same.

She's beautiful and gorgeous and is so sweet to little children and animals. I'm so proud of her.

I love her so much but really feel sad that all that happened to her. I fight the feelings of grief but sometimes Mocha it's best we have a really big CRY and get those reactive hormones flowing to make us feel better.

I love to have a bath with girly bath salts and all sorts of scrubs etc now lol... and have ANY pick me up Netflix specials playing.

I like smelling nice lol.

Love to you all
EM

Hi monkey_magic I hope you get the answer/s your after 🤗 and I’m glad your psychologist has ruled out bipolar as that’s one thing less thing of the list. And can a psychologist make a diagnosis if you’ve been referred to them or does the gp? As I found some conflicting information when I did some research.

Hi mocha delight,

Loving your name...as I love a good mocha, lol.

A clinical psychologist can give U a diagnosis so can a psychiatrist. I also think a doctor can give U a diagnosis by filling out a form/s.

In my case my doc refered me to the clinical psychologist and psychiatrist to get a thorough diagnosis.

I'm very wary of psychiatrists. In the past I've been given snap diagnosis's and now I'm having to turn all this around to get of meds.

The clinical psychologist has seen me four times and counting and is going through my whole life with me. I'm also filling out tests. Ticking boxes.

Today I see a private psychiatrist. Now, this will be interesting.

Hi monkey_magic so can a normal psychologist and not a clinical psychologist give a diagnosis? I was referred to a normal psychologist but she’s not taking on new clients so I found another one but had to ring my gp’s practice and spoke to one of the receptionists to pass on I couldn’t get in to the one I was referred to and that I needed a referral sent to the one I found.

Hi mocha,

I'd check with the practice. If it's a diagnosis you're after ring them and ask if the psychologist will diagnose. I think some do, and some don't diagnose.

Psychiatrists definitely diagnose but it's hard for me to find a good one. I've had very bad experiences with this profession. Not to put anyone off...I just get misdiagnosed a lot.

Hi Monkey_Magic,

how did you go with your doctor's visit?
