I just want to sleep

I'm struggling with sleep. I'm either awake all night or I'm in a light sleep with terrifying recuring dreams. I can't remember the last time I didn't wake up in a pool of sweat. The doctor's just want to stuff me with pills and I understand that's going to help me sleep but it turns me into a zombie the next day. The pills they gave me to stop the nightmares made it so much worse. It's also hard to trust my self around so many prescription pills after my previous suicide attempt.

I have been looking into other remedies. I have just purchased an acupressure mat and a weighted blanket. They are suppose to be great relieving stress and anxiety and help you sleep.

Has anyone used these with any positive results? Does anyone have any other non medicated remedies?

Hi Renaexoxo,

I could relate to your insomnia, as I struggle with it too. I hear your exhaustion & frustrations, & I think it’s completely justified.

I haven’t used either before, but I am contemplating getting a weighted blanket. I have a friend who uses weighted blankets to help with her PTSD.

But I suppose it really also depends on the person. I know some people have had bad reactions to weighted blankets, whereas others find great comfort in them like my friend. It’s hard to say until we try it...

Kindness & care to you,

Pepper

Hi Renaexoxo,

I think it's great that you purchased an acupressure mat and weighted blanket, I haven't used them myself but I have heard that it is helpful for a lot of people! In saying that, everyone is different and the results will be mixed but I think it's awesome that you are really taking the initiative to look for solutions.

Have you tried meditation? It's really helped me to relax and go into a peaceful state of mind which makes sleeping easier.

Please keep us updated on how you go! Here for you!

Hi

i can relate to you in so many ways! My sleep used to be horrendous but I’m kind of back on track now. I have a weighted blanket that I love! But I’ve also had to create a ‘sleep routine’ and when I stick to it I am sleeping better! I’ve also been doing this free online course and the resources and activities have been great! I hope you get some sleep soon!
