What do you fear (today)?

The_Abyss

In line with my "when were you last truly happy" post, I wondered about what other people fear?

Is it an "every day fear", or is it a "just today" fear?

Do you fear getting out of bed? Do you fear opening the mail? Do you fear the phone ringing? Do you fear being alone? Do you fear the darkness descending? Do you fear confrontations? Do you fear rejection? Do you fear not feeling anything at all?

I wonder if just voicing that fear, sharing that fear, will help to take away it's power? Or will it give it life?

For me, my big fear at the moment is being found out. Fearing my kids or family will come across my posts. Fear a colleague will recognise my writing style or circumstances. Fear that someone will see through this big brave front I put on to get through the door each day. Fear that someone sees my vulnerability.

Diving in the deep end. (see my fear today is the same as your last one). I fear even getting in the pool at all today. Safer to stand on the side and watch. No one can disagree, disapprove, interfere, attack, if you are not in the pool at all. If you are invisible. You can't win the race that way - but neither can you lose the race.

If you don't love something - it can't be taken away from you. I love too much!

I fear getting my beloved pet back with me and having it be the wrong decision. I fear not being able to handle the commitment, the settling in, the possibility neighbours may object. I fear that it will cause me stress that overshadows the joy. I fear the unknown outcome.

(is there still a thread on Our Pets here? I am sure there was one once. someone else who has a strong bond with a pet may understand my situation)

Hi Moon,

I hear what you are saying and see your dilema. Im dont know where your pet is now but if your neighbour approves, you get your pet back and it is too much can you find another good home for him/her (the pet not the neighbour :-)).

I fear quite a lot of things, but one of them is space, or more specifically planets/the sun/the moon crashing into earth. I often feel a strong feeling of dread when watching sunsets or looking up at the moon, and i start to panic if i feel the sun or moon looks a little larger than normal. Also when i was watching videos of 'what it would look like if different planets in our solar system replaced our moon', or 'if other stars replaced our sun', or similar videos and i felt sick to my stomach. The bigger the planets/stars got, the more dread i felt.

I fear my future. What if i cannot find a job when the little one goes to school?

What will happen, how will we live? Will i have to sell my house? Will i stuff up mu older kids study by causing them this stress?

Hi there dear pal

was listening to CD on stress and anxiety. One part was Living In the Now. Not dwelling on things that happened in the past...the past is over...it's gone. Not worrying about the future...what "might" be. But in the Now. Because Right Here, and Right Now....you're OK.

the present is not called the "present" for nothing. It's all we have.

(P.S....by the way I am not so good at "practising what I preach"....ha ha) xo

Hey Moon,

Thank you, yes i'm not so good at it either. I keep telling myself that i have all next year to look, all year. I am worrying about something over a year away, who knows i may win the lotto before then.

Pretty sure my hormones are playing up, been having weird dreams which is a part of the hormones.

Thanks Moon, hope you are feeling better and have a great day.

Big hugs

Dear moonstruck,

You have, and continue to help me. I hope knowing that I appreciate your efforts means that knowing I care how you feel matters to you too.

I don't tend to worry so much about poor decsion making, my attitude is generally "what is the worst that can happen?" Yes things can't be undone but sometimes it doesn't matter. That you tried to do the best, that you made an informed decsion is often cathartic in itself. Knowing that you tried and failed is better than saying "i wish i had..."

Usually one regrets the things we haven't done not the things we did. As you know, I do have regrets for letting a friendship turn into a relationship then losing both, but on my deathbed? I will probably look back and say that was one of the best times of my life even though there is so much pain now.

The loyalty and unconditional love of pet is an amzing thing to experience in life. They do not judge us or get angry at us. They can look at us sadly when we go out and leave them alone, they can even sulk but they love us! I hope that whatever decsion you make, that you think... that at the time you made that decsion, it was the right decision. Things change but in that moment your choice was right for that moment and therefore, if it turns out to not work, it is the circumstances that have changed but the decision was right at the time.

If you are wrong, will you be worse off than you are now?
