Trapped in supported accommodation

I have various people on my team supposedly helping through my depression, and other issues I have. They requested I go into a care facility for a one month stay. Which I agreed to fully expecting to return home about one month after. As soon as I mover in to the place there attitudes changed. All of a sudden I had to stay in the supported accommodation. Because I was not going to be supported in my home. Even though the support I need is available from various agencies. Around Melbourne by various counsels or privet agencies. Providing attendant care and home help. I believe I should be eligible for funding for disability. I have raised this with the people who are my advisers. But get caned every time I am not consulted. About the decision I am told just sit back do as we say. When your ready we will help more then. The plan i am not consulted on it's not working it's just stagnating. My family are no help. I am that fed up where I am. I am rely contemplating ending it all my life has no meaning in here. Just a worthless piece of meat that gets treated like a 3 year old. I know a warehouse full of stuff. That no one can now use. I cannot help anyone in here not even myself I'm not aloud.

Well now the big test is on One group of workers have organized an OT assessmen to get pined to my NDIS package. For this I have to be in my own place. Not a problem so far I hear you say. Well we shall see I need to get a walking frame into the house from the front fence there are ten steps all up and a path that is on an incline up from the fence plus a gate and a wire door and front door if it had been a ramp i would be in. Right that puts us at the back door six steps down one up to narrow for the frame one gate one wire door back door needs a key as does the front. I have all keys. just need someone to haul the frame up steps no one willing to help with that even they can put me in here but not get me out gutless

Shouldn't the purpose of all this be to get the house assessed and putting in what's needed for you. Shouldn't they be checking what's required ie ramps, bathroom rails etc?

round and round she goes, really feel for you Kanga.

That's why I am having this assessment it has to be done in the accommodation I live in. If They do it in an old age home that's where I stay I have to show them the dwelling I am in from that the OT says the person needs a hoyst a lift a wheelchair what ever they need minimum. As Luck would have it I am in public housing they just have to either modify what I am in or move me into a purposes built house. I say stick it to the man. I have been pushed around now its my turn to com out on top of the heap

Well for me it's cutting it fine. I like to know I can be some where when the appointment is made. Now having the appointment then transport support its support transport appointment right now its looking like i wont be at the OT assessment others arranged I need the assessment to get the right house and equipment I did not arrange any of this If my farther was overseeing This job the roof would be severely damaged because it's not been planed well just a little more thought into it as they say work smarter not harder

hi Kanga, I agree with CMF and feel as though you should try and be there, otherwise they may suggest something which is definitely not suitable for you, and public housing, maybe we're talking about Human Services and if so, I know that they have provided ramps for anyone who needs them and this includes a hand rail as I pick up someone three times a week who lives in a HS complex of 40 units and many flats have had ramps installed. Geoff me old china plate. That's the intent problem is getting access to the building. I can get to the venue then trapped on the out side. I cannot get me walking frame up or down the stairs. Once inside I am fine all places can be accessed or made accessible. Because of the OT assessment and funding it brings which are the ramps and rails. That what I have been trying to get across in the last few posts. If they cannot make the unit accessible they will have to find one. That's the bottom line.

thanks Kanga, yes I know, unless they have an available flat with just a small step or surely there are flats that already have a ramp, I wish I could help you with this, because I understand what you are facing up to, as I wouldn't be able to get into my place unless I handrails, maybe you could contact HS to see if they would provide a portable ramp until the real one has been built.
They have tradesmen who do the work for them, such as replacing doors, fixing locks or cupboard that needs to be reattach to the wall, don't let this battle end here, you have to force what you want, if not email your state politician, or ring them up or contact Quantum who maybe able to rush things through you. Geoff.

Again thanks Geoff I have tried those before but it will take too long or is impractical to place a ramp to the front door. I can get up the stairs no walking frame If able bodied person is beside me they pick up the frame with me on landing pass it up to me it is now in a position I can get it in the house problem solved. I have been fishing about for help on the net a lead has been throne to me as I was writing this I might have help either in the morning of the assessment or the night before which will still work. Shall post again with follow up on this latest development

Right ohhraa After all that farting about I contacted an agency who are more than pleased to send out one of there carers to help get me into a taxi and out up into the unit and possibility even make me a COFFEE when we get there. There is a small problem with that I have to pay for it.

Like its is about an hour to do the hole job but its a minimum of two hours on so I will have to fine a few litle jobs for them to do there. fill in time

Kanga

Sounds positive Kanga I hope this works out for you
