This bipolar life

Are your moods are like an elevator with no control buttons? Mine are.

Ground floor ... I feel normal, content, just quietly getting on with ordinary, everyday life, loving my family and friends. This is as it should be. And maybe there's nothing wrong with me after all. Live.

Going up, top floor. Oh look! There's a shiny thing! I want to sing! Let's go buy stuff! Let's have a big party and invite the world! What could possibly go wrong! Woooooo hoooooooo! Play.

Going up (a different day) top floor. What do you mean you don't agree with me! I'm right! Why don't you think like me? Keep up! How can you be so illogical? I'll f-ing shred you if you don't do what I want! Rage.

Going down, lower ground floor. Flat, listless, can't be bothered. Can still function but it's a drag. Cope

Going down, basement. I'm never getting out of bed again. I'm useless, worthless. Total idiot, how could I ever imagine I could do anything, nothing ever goes right because I'm wrong. I'm a burden to everyone. Hide.

Welcome to my bipolar world. It's always been my world, but it's only recently I've seen it for what it is. About 15 years ago I was diagnosed with clinical depression during one of my 'basement' times. I had a lot of lower ground floor times too, on and off, and I kept out of the basement (so I thought) with alcohol. Until that took me into the blackest ever basement with only one obvious way out. Having survived doing something very dangerous I realised I had to stop drinking or I really would die.

I never took much notice of the playful times or the anger, that was just me, I was fun sometimes, and sometimes I was a devastating bitch. Ha! Deal with it people!

Well, yes, but in time the elevator started going up and down too quickly and, as I became more aware and more knowledgeable about mental health I realised this wasn't good. Doctor. Diagnosis. Bipolar 2. Lithium.

So, I've started this thread in the hope that other bipolar folks will join me, to share experiences and strategies. In my 'beginners' understanding, we are different from other fellow travellers of the back dog. While we experience depression as many others on this site do, the hypomanic or manic ups and, for some the rapid cycling that can happen, are experiences unto themselves.

I want to learn more, and I want to share with others. I hope my fellow elevators will join me here.
BTW, it's a ground floor day in my head today! Yay!

No but it sounds interesting. All the types sound like the narcissist.

Will have a look for it.

The heat here has made me so dozy.

Send heat to me Velvet

We had one in z Jan of sunshine and people complained !,

We are having a run of warm days coming up. I’m glad it won’t be too hot close to 30 degrees, after all it’s Summer.
A bit of a food coma today from last nights Kfc, chocolate bullets etc . Have to try and stop this emotional eating . Went to the dr for scripts and other things, mentioned my mood and to me one day rolls into the next, same , same, same

Hi All...just popping in quickly to say hi. Am at the hairdresser. We leave to go to the wedding tomorrow. I'll believe it when I hear my daughter say I do...lol. My partner has his nose out of joint a little bit cause my ex and his family will be there too. My ex and i have always been amicable and civil. We have been divorced for 22 yrs. My partner went through a very nasty divorce. I have explained that it's my daughter's day so he just has to be civil for the day. Fingers crossed there is no drama over the weekend. Hope everyone is well.

Hi Lisa611

I hope you have a lovely day at your daughter's wedding, most people love a wedding, so hopefully, all will go well! I hope you have found a lovely dress! Has anyone noticed how quietly the price of food is rising with all these shortages! I went to Coles yesterday to buy some powdered Milo (the Coles brand) for my son, and what used to cost me $3.80 only a month ago, now costs $7.00! So sneaky!

I am going to find that book you mentioned quirky, they should have it at the book depository, they have everything there. I've got a "seems like sensitive"too. Pie tonight for tea.....ahhh so bad for you.

Leisa you can find book online if you like.

I have noticed that while shelves are empty the valentine shelves are full , so they had no trouble being delivered.

Lisa sorry for the late well wishes. I hope the wedding went well. There is always one thing that goes wrong with a wedding. I hope yours was minor.

Tonga, I am heartbroken for those missing family. I am glad the Aussie and NZ Governments have sent aid.

This hot weather, is disgusting. It’s our second lot of a heatwave in two months. All these days over 40.

Lisa.... sending you all the good vibes for this weekend. Hope it's a beautiful splendid celebration of love and family.
