Sad musings

Hi everyone,

I'm not sure what to say other than I'm just on edge, cranky and sad at the same time. I'm aware of helplines, doctors, mental health plans, mindfulness, CBT, smiling mind app, distractions, doing things we love, etc, etc. I feel as though I've hit a wall...

I know that I want to make some sort of change or changes but I'm unsure of the nature of this change. A general feeling of unease. When you're deeply unhappy but you're not even 100% sure why.

Seriously, this all probably seems kind of vague and I'm not sure what I'm hoping to achieve here, and I know that no one has the answer except for me (whatever that is...throws hands up in frustration).

All I can say is I think life is difficult and often painful. It's the daily, in-between moments that I find the hardest. Sometimes I wonder if brief moments of reprieve is as good as it gets.

Hi Nath,

I'm glad to hear you're holding up okay. I'm happy for you that you have some good news. That's awesome!

Sending love and kind thoughts your way too,

Hey Butterfly (Startingnew),

No, I haven't...thanks for the mention 🙂

I had to look it up. It's the anonymous woman who leaves sculptures made of old books at places? It's a pretty cool concept especially her rationale for it. She made a butterfly sculpture once too 🙂

Night...

Love,

See im everywhere 😉

Hi everyone,

Butterfly Wings (startingnew)-you are a very big hearted person.

Yes, the book page sculptures are so intricate and beautiful! Must have taken a long time to make each one. Lol. Your comment about "being everywhere" made me laugh. See, you're famous 🙂

I am 100% with you that art in all its guises- music, paintings, poetry, fiction, etc- is very healing. Holds me together. The arts is at the centre (my core) then any other help I get orbits around it, you know. Anyway...

I love surrealist art and pop art and have many favourites. Some of the ones that come to mind include

- andré breton

- Salvador Dali

- Andy Warhol

- Roy Litchenstein

- Yayoi Kusama

I especially love surrealism as it is a bit of a mind warp; I like how it distorts reality. I think visual manipulation are things that I like in art 🙂 Just a personal preference thing as others might have the opposite taste to me.

On another note, I have come down with a cold so will be resting up. Nothing major but I think it's the universe (or my body...let's be real here lol) telling me that I'm over-committed to too many things.

Calling in sick today at work in a bit...then will crawl under my blanket and finish reading Just Kids (Patti Smith).

Take care and sending love,

Pepper xoxo

Musing: arts and personal clarity

Hi,

I often find that I discover personal "answers" not during introspection but during engagement with the arts. I swear it re-wires my brain or something (I have no hard evidence for that but it's my little theory. Lol).

Even if I'm not working on something directly related to my emotions/troubles, it's as though my brain flips a switch and I end up making sense of things.

The arts "ground" me. Like, some of my calmer, less hysterical posts were the result of hours immersed in various creative activities.

I find when I'm disengaged from the arts is when my loose screw starts to show. Lol. And that is not a pretty sight at all...

Anyway, off to read now...

Love,

Pepper xoxo

Lol im glad you had a giggle at that Peps.

I agree it wouldve taken soo much time and effort AND patience! To do all of those.
Yes I get it, art is what saves us from ourselves when no one else can. I get it.

Im going to take a look at these artists and will get back to you. Might even pick a few favourites!.

Please rest us and drink plenty of fluids as well

lots of love and hugs

Hi Artsy Butterfly Wings,

So that makes you ABW now? Lol.

Thank you 🙂

You are speaking my language. Love it. Love it. Love it.

Thank you.

One of the fastest ways to my heart of hearts is speaking my language 🙂

Cool, I hope you like at least some of them. If I had to pick a fave, it's probably Dali but the rest are cool too. Kusama is a bit more "out there" and abstract...awesome still..

Thanks for the well wishes.

Love you loads,

Pepper xoxo

Andre breton- oh wow I didnt realise he was the artist os the time painting. Where the clocks are melting on the different landscape items.

salvador dali- I love these artworks! They are awesome and mostly nature which is one of my core grounding things.

roy litchenstein- I can resonate so much with this artwork!

the other 2 artists are good but i like these three the best. im with you i love Dali's artworks the best!
