"Over Thinking" or "Paranoid Thoughts"?

Moonstruck
Community Member

I have a tendency to "over think" things (I hope you know what I mean by that) which can spiral into obsessive thoughts and imagining worst outcomes etc.

Just lately I have noticed myself perhaps going a step further when thinking over someone else's actions and/or words - assuming it is a direct personal assault on "me" . I dwell over and over on what they said, the tone of voice used, creating a scenario as to why they did or said a certain thing, what they could be "leading up to" or "covering up" something I need to know. I get more and more anxious as I "imagine" what will be next to happen - (it is always negative and scary). sometimes I imagine the conversations they "could" be having about me behind my back.

sometimes I feel like contacting him/her to have them explain if anything is wrong, and if I misconstrued anything -to reassure me all is OK. But I am too scared to do so, in case it makes things worse, in case they are embarrassed and try to avoid me in the future. . Hardly anyone knows I have such an anxiety problem at all - so I don't want to come across as a "mental case".....(LOL)

Is this sounding a bit paranoid to you? How can I stop imagining the worst possible scenario of events that "might" happen...it's seems so real to me even though I am making it up in my head.

Peaceful hello Wayne,

I find your view of this subject highly interesting.

I can relate to how memories of dreams could effect affect someone's prospective of life.

Looking at yourself as different people and relating to them individually is pure brilliance.

I'd like to vist you on your thread, if you like. I don't know what its called.

I invite you to join me on my thread "my storey - just keep moving" if you dont have one

Or

Chat here

Anyway Makes me happy.

Your voice should be heard, I'm willing to listen.

I will await your response

Peace

Earth angel matt.

Hi.and thanks Earth angel.matt. ..ive always been able to think outside the square..almost like in THREE DIMENSION. since a toddler. .i dont know why.nobody taught me. Its not odd to me for one person to have many versions of personality.what is sad is whem someone fails to relate to them. It seems like mental fatigue .i often have an alter ego.in chartoon character form.he is PINKY.from the mouses pinky and the brain.note that ive put my true self in charge here.thats what im suggesting. If we put ouselves in charge of our minds and its various delusions.like saying in our minds.."you can get in the back seat and stay there or i will just ignore you" its Who is in charge.i beat anxiety attacks by running up a hill during an attack.they subside quickly.now i dont get them.im in charge. Wayne

Hello Out The Window...thanks for giving me a whole new perspective on how many characters are living inside my head and talking to me...God they say some stupid things sometimes too...I wonder why we are so quick to believe the negative, critical ones and tend to ignore the supportive, encouraging, loving ones? We're crazy to do that!

Next time one of them says "what if this happens? You'd better make sure of..... You made a mess of that didn't you? You do too much of (or too little) of...... You need more rest, you need to keep busy, you should, you should, you should...... (fill in your own blanks)

I will try to listen more to the one who says "Well done! See what you can do, aren't you brave? Aren't you strong? You're a good person, you deserve to be loved...you ARE loved". I wish this one would speak up louder sometimes....perhaps I will turn the volume UP!.........have a good day.

No probs wayne,

I relate to your theory.

I don't see the patterns in my head though, don't really visualize to the extent that you can. You have a gift there my friend.

My personality doesn't have multiple reachable points. I can't talk to it the way you can. Its pretty cool that you can.

Im interested in learning your technique.

Do you think you could explain that in more detail over the next week or so. No rush and no probs if you can't too.

I'm easy. I think a lot of people, even though they might be to scared or suffering so much that they cant post, would be interested in that info too.

No pressure at all buddy. Again only if you want to.

I have recently had a major episode that I'm recovering from. I'm walking around 18k a day in 3 different times and meditating while I do it. Almost Zen like or chi. I find it absolutely helpful to exercise while meditating. The body is moving without the brain thinking. Great future training. I've only just started doing this.

Don't think......feel - Bruce Lee. What legend that guy was.

Anyway

Nice chatting with you. I'm in and out a lot, busy recovering, but will always reply to your posts.

If you have another thread to chat on....just let me know.

Maybe you could start a thread with your teachings. I would join you there for sure. No probs either way too. Just let me know.

Enjoy your day

Peace

EA Matt.

Soz moonstruck,

We must of been "posting at the same time". (PAST)

I just checked back in and seen you post.

Negative thoughts are challenging.

Have you heard of Tara Brach? I really suggest looking her up on youtube. RAIN is the best. But she has heaps of info on alot of meaningful vids on self awareness.

Also I suggest googling " self awareness" its is very helpful. Im sure heaps of work sheets are available.

Wayne has a very special view on this subject. I'm intrigued to find out more.

I hope you dont mind us steeling your thread? Its all good to be assertive. The floor belongs to you. We are guest here.

Soz again

Peace

Matt.

I am the exact same. Everything you said also happens to me daily and it is the worst thing in the world. I don't know how to stop it. I'm obviously not glad that you have this but I'm glad I am not the only one. I really thought I was.. We can get through it though! It might just take some time 😒

Hi moonstruck. Good to see you have a SOH.. put it this way.ever tried to have a conversation with a person whos personality has an imaginary frame around it?very boring.or a singer who is MONO TONE.? Also very boring.so im saying we are not boring. Cheers. Wayne

(Dear Moonstruck please excuse me talking to ZOZEBO here in your thread)

Dear ZOZEBO~

Welcome, and thank you for your post. As you can see from above I relate very closely to what you and Moonstruck are having to go through. You are right twice, it seems the worst thing in the world - your whole life is made horrible by it, and you can indeed get relief.

I was a policeman, invalided out a very long time ago with PTSD and anxiety disorders. As I'd soldiered on alone for many years treatment was more difficult, and whilst I'm not completely cured my life is immeasurably better.

By saying you thought you were the only one I'm guessing you have not been diagnosed and treated. In that case if it was me I'd do the following:

Firstly I'd book a long appointment with my GP and ask to be tested for Anxiety and Depression. I'd set things out in detail. Go back as far as I could remember. If I thought it might be difficult to get it all out in time then I'd write it down first at my leisure and share the paper.

Second I'd have a look at all the information in THE FACTS menu towards the top of this page about Anxiety and Depression, causes, symptoms and treatments.

Third I'd have a browse of the Anxiety and Depression sections of this Forum, with a view to picking up what others have found helpful.

Please feel free to post as often as you'd like, either here or on a thread of your own (very easy to make). You will be met with care and understanding

Croix.

I don't mind if you all talk together on my thread...I feel rather chuffed in fact, that some new connections have been made here - it's good. White Knight recommended a list of topics from bb that I must have a read of...so thanks for that White Knight. comforting to know I am not alone in these negative thoughts that just seem to snowball into catastrophes that haven't even happened yet!

Hey, here's a thought.....is it possible that Everyone..I mean Everyone...has these thoughts and they are quite a healthy part of being a human? Do some just hide it better than others, or don't admit it....perhaps every single person we meet gets them?

Or do you think some people are just naturally "optimistic and always see the bright side?". e.g. when they say "I really don't care or worry about it"....could they really mean it? They're very lucky if so aren't they?

Peace morning all,

The human brain is an endless wounder, I believe we don't understand most of our capabilities.

I believe you can change the way you look at things.

Its natural to have thoughts in general. Millions a day. How many do we remember? only the ones that make us feel pain.

You can be addicted to see pain. You can choose to be addicted to good, happy-go-lucky.

Its the thought you choose to focus on, that is the answer.

Have a nice day all

Peace

EARTH ANGEL MATT.
