Hey Everybody. I ma really stuck and need advice with my daughter. I love her to bits but she is angry at the world and me. I have been on the forums since January and being an old guy I just thought I ask for some help. Here is some background...if you can help me
- She gone all gothic and weird...post natal depression...wont talk about it or accept any help...
- Dyed her long blond hair jet black and wears a lot of black and umm...self injured last year when she couldnt see her married BF..
- She sent me a MMS of her 'injuries'...that really hurt to see
- Has just had a baby to her boss...he is married with 3 kids..and he has warned her not to say anything
- she asked me to borrow my 2007 XR8 when she had her car impounded and I said no...Now I am evil for saying no
- i did mention that under 25's cant drive the XR8...she didnt care...she just wanted to use it..I still said no...
- Christmas day 2015 I turned up with presents at her place and she said.."I have had a late night...can you come back tomorrow"?
I use bullet points so it would be easier to read and respond to. (I cant stand mega paragraphs) Do I just give her space...or just a phase?
She lives 10 minutes away and has 2 great kids to 2 different dads. I daughter who is 3 and her new baby son who is about 3 months..She doesnt do drugs. She wants everything now ....Platinum Foxtel...Leather lounge....VE SV6 Commodore.....and the single mums pension of course.
I spend a lot of my time on the Depression/Anxiety threads....but I am lost here....should I just let her find her own way? Any thought/opinion would be gold to me right now.....also...whats an emo?....and yes Im serious..is it a dark and depressed person?
Thankyou for reading and please do respond if you can help...Have a great weekend too!
My kind thoughts and respect
Paul 🙂

Perhaps Mr Woof you need to get a cute little dog. People would be more likely to approach you then, and comment on what a cute little dog you have. Just a thought!
But you're right, walking your dog is as good a place as any in which to meet like minded people.
Have you had any success with writing to your daughter? Or suggesting that fathers day picnic that someone suggested?
As a matter of interest we have 3 of us here who are near the same age. I turned 57 in May, I read that Wednesday is also 57 (when is your birthday?), and you will be 57 soon too Paul. What's going on?
Love and hugs to you Paul. You are always in my mind.

Oh Paul, what nonsense! You are never too old, nor too macho, to have a cute little dog. (-:
How about something like a Boston Terrier, a Pug or a little Yorkshire Terrier? They are all very cute, not so fluffy, little dogs. Or perhaps a French Bulldog - they are cute small dogs, and all the male celebrities seem to have them these days. All these types are quite masculine in their own way. Maybe try to rescue one of these types next time, and you may have more success attracting the ladies during your walks. They are probably afraid to go anywhere near you with such a big brute as Prince, no matter how handsome and well behaved he may be.
Paul you remain the baby of us three then (Dec 1959) yes Wednesday you are the eldest (Nov 1958). And yep, there I am slotted fair in the middle (May 1959). Always have been, and still remain the middle child.
I hope your Dad and your Mum are doing as well as can be expected. Do you think either one of them appreciate the fact that you do so much for them? I hope in some way, that they do.
I also hope that you can get to do something for Fathers Day with your daughter and grandchildren. And maybe even include your own Dad as well? Does your daughter have much to do with her grandfather at all?

Hey Sherie and thankyou. My daughter is in contact with her grand dad until she borrowed a some serious money and recently 'disappeared' because she cant (wont) repay it....I have to give her time to ditch the anger she has for the world. I appreciate the kind suggestion re fathers day though. This isnt a temporary squabble....it will take a lot longer than fathers day 2016 to sort out. I am going to let her find her own way on the path she has taken.
Okay..little cute dogs....when I joined BB in January I had my mega huge Alaskan Malamute as my profile pic. I adore little cute dogs big time. My Alaskan Malamute and Prince have been bitten several times by Jack Russell's as well as the little white fluffy dog on the 'My Dog' commercial. I agree that they are beautiful companions. I just think they are way too aggressive and when they attack Prince or my old snow dog and they dont have the brains to fugure out they are only biting through 2 inches of down in his coat.
I had a Chihuahua come at me last weekend and tried to take a bite out of Prince's thick down. It didnt work...Prince just wanted to play...the Chihuahua kept attacking and got a mouthful of down/fur from Prince...I did have a few polite yet strong words with my neighbor about her fencing though 🙂 I am really glad that Prince found the attack funny. It didnt help the quality of my walk though Sherie. (wrestling a huge dog on a lead against a tiny dog that was really aggro)
I will be getting a smaller dog though later on....maybe a Samoyed. Thankyou big time though with your help with my daughter. Any support I can get with my daughter is a huge help to me right now...Paul xx

Oh dear, poor Prince! People tend to forget that even the cute little dogs need to be taught respect and manners, every bit as much as a big dog. And I agree with Carol that a samoyed will be a hit with the ladies. ha ha ha ...
Sorry to hear that your daughter appears to have 'burned her bridges' with regards to her granddad. Most unfortunate. Gosh Paul, I just dont know. Of course I realise it isnt just a recent thing, but a start has to come somewhere. Some little thing like an invitation for her to spend fathers day with you could be just one small step in the right direction. And then leave it up to her.
