Hey Geoff

no don't be sorry, I like your suggestions. I have thought about an apprenticeship - seems like a good path and I know a few people who have or are completing one. Getting to be outside everyday would be really nice. I'll look into it 🙂

I will definitely write a list I like that suggestion.

I think I'm just scared of the unknown, I don't know what the next step is after seeing a doctor about it and like what they say and stuff. That's probably so stupid

Not stupid at all, we all worry about the unknown. That first step is the hardest.

Just a thought, what is your diet like? It's important to eat well also to feel good, you are physically active which is great so you need to make sure you are putting the right nutrients into your body. I've started fish oil and try (not always successfully) not to eat junk food.

The apprenticeship sounds good. My nephew went to uni to study IT, he hated it and became an electrician, loves it. Always good to have a tradie in the family too 😉

CMF my diet is... ok, I try to eat as healthy as I can but I dont all the time I'll be honest. I do a lot of sport so I understand I need to eat well for it but yeah I have had more than my fair share of packets two minutes and cheese toasties

Hi Jackson and everyone - just a quick check in. Jackson one of the best ways to lessen the fear of seeing your doctor and starting on a process to treat your anxiety is to learn as much as you can about it yourself. We've got some good resources on the main website, so that's the best place to start. Maybe you could also have a look at some of the posts in our Anxiety board on the forum so you get an idea of how others experience and deal with it.

Making a list to take to the docs is an excellent idea and I know many people in the forum have done that and it's helped them.

Some of us have been dealing with mental health stuff now for so long it's easy to forget how very scary it is at the start, but we all went through the fear too. And once we're coping, there's no reason why life can't be as normal as possible.

And I have so much respect for you reaching out now, while you're young, and not letting this dictate your life. We are so much more than any health condition, and the sooner we get the right treatment, the sooner we can just get on with things. No different to a physical ailment.

Cheers mate

Kaz

Thank you Kaz for all that

i will have a look at the anxiety stuff, do you know if you're allowed to take people with you to appointments for support?

I think I'm going to try to talk to Mum it's so hard hiding all this and pretending everything is ok when it isn't

Hi Jackson,

I'm really glad you reached out and re still here talking to us, you are also taking everything on board which i great, you are really open to suggestions and trying to do something about your situation.

Talking to your mum is a great idea, she is on your side, she would want what makes you happy. As far as taking someone to the appointments, i'm sure that is fine if it is what you want. I guess the important thing is you speak openly and honestly
