Chronic tension headache diagnosis and long term management

Hi I suffer from chronic pain. I have a bone shard impacting a nerve root at c8 being treated with cortisone. I have pain at c5 and c6 that is manageable without anything. However I have a constant headache and pressure in my ears that I have had for pretty much every waking moment for the last 7 months. As a result I have become depressed and I have insomnia.

After a trip to a neurologist I have been advised to cease sleeping medication and strong pain killers. I am now only on antidepressants.

A visit to my psychologist today has alerted me that depression does not cause headaches.

Has anyone been treated for chronic pain with ONLY antidepressants and did it work?

I havr a referral now to a psychiatrist to check but it not until May. While I see if I can find something earlier I sm keen to hear if this has worked for anyone.

Thanks,

Carol

Where shall we play you asked earlier? How about the Land Of Spells? They have plenty of magic wands there to wave fairy dust all around you.....and give you some much needed relief. Sorry I missed taking you over there today....but at night time, the Enchanted Wood is even better! They have a huge market that's not open during the day.....and all the folk - goblins, pixies, fairies, magicians, wizards, squirrels and gnomes come out to play and share their wares!

Pick you up in half an hour?...(they have all heard about you...they think you are very brave, that you're a hero)

Sounds wonderful Moon!

I have heard that in the Land of Spells you can get a magic ointment to rub on things to make them fly. We can fly around in our very own wishing chair!

I shall look for a potion for you that will make you feel safe there and you won't need to wear your sunnies all the time and we can see your beautiful eyes.

Oh I do hope they are not disappointed when they see I am just ordinary 🙂 You will have to charm them all for me.

Did your GP said how long it'd take for the medication to take effect? Hope it's straight away? Xx

Hey Emmy,

Yes the one I have taken is an almost immediate effect and it has already reduced some of the pain WOOHOO, I take my other one soon too so hoping by midnight it will back to my normal level or maybe even better...I can hope.

I couldn't drive and I am super dopey but it is exciting that it is improving...last 3 days have been hard.

Thanks Emmy, big hugs xx

Oh hun this is fantastic news. Let us know how it goes tonight / tomorrow. Xx

I'll keep my fingers crossed Carol and hopefully there'll be a positive update tomorrow

I felt too tired to drive today too...accomplished something, but not that...yet

Thanks to you both!

Narelle, you're doing great. It seems you are achieving a little each day and that is amazing lovely. Each day brings another step forward. You should be really proud of yourself.

Actually both of you should feel proud. You are both making great steps whether it is in understanding or action. It is an honour to be here with you and share in your journeys.

I am very proud of you both if it's ok to say that xx

My pain has eased, with the extra pain meds, back to a more tolerable level. Yet I feel so miserable this morning, overwhelmingly sad. Why?

I don't know 😞 could it be just adjusting to the extra meds? Hopefully temporary

Try YouTube rabbit Island Japan. And dog carries kitten up stairs. Very cute 🙂

What will you be up to today?
