I’ve lost two friends to suicide this year

Hi everyone. I lost a good friend to suicide in April. I recently found out he took his life on my birthday. Then I found out on Friday night, another old friend has taken her life. This has been a tough year. It has been hard also as I live alone with no pets. My solace has come from staying busy with my online courses and staying in touch with Church people. But it has still been hard. Finding out about my friend on Friday night was a real shock as her life seemed so good and successful.

Hey. Yes I have heard of that poem. A friend gave me a book about it many years ago which I still have not read.
I feel yes my faith has helped me this year. Particularly keeping in touch with my Church friends with the courses the Church has run and my fortnight Zoom meetings.
I didn’t really think much today about my friends that have died. I had my own therapist appointment via Skype in the morning and then just rested most of the day

Hello FaithHopeLove, and a warm welcome to the forums.

I am sincerely sorry that two people who you were close with have taken their life, times like this make us ask so many questions those that we have no answer to, especially if we don't realise how they were feeling.

Unfortunately, it leaves a place in our hearts we endeavour to fill, sometimes that's possible, but times we have to cross a bridge to cover the hole, but this may break and have to start once again.

There are on an occasion once we become qualified in MI where it's not so easy to treat yourself and require the services of another qualified counsellor, who can look at the whole problem from a different perspective rather than self diagnosing.

My Dad was a doctor and always saw another one when he wasn't feeling well to avoid any cover up he didn't want to know, but still very important, just as it is for you to gain your strength once again.

My best.

Geoff.

Thanks so much for your perspective 🙏😊
