Not the actual tablets etc , run out of medications to try ,and likley fairly close to running out of combinations 40 yrs of it , diagnosis originally clinical depression , ptsd and recently severe angziety attacks, now at fifty four I've totally run out of the anger I need to fight it. Every fourtnight the same , the cost cutting , robbing peter to pay Paul dosent work so I'm basically robbing peter to pay peter....( the snake swallowing his own tail ) ..I'm going days withought sleep and within this hole of hell my life just revolves around pension day bill paying and waiting till next pay to pay more bills..... the only two medications that help in the least don't appear to be long term options ( ie sedatives in the short term for the panic atacks and another for sleep, trouble with other is the side effects just get to grate to bear)
no idea what to do ...got the psyc n gp next week but I've got nothing left to say or to feel

Hi Mc62,
Welcome to the forum, and I apologise for the delayed response!
I'm sorry to hear that you've tried many medications and treatment options, and have not found a long-term solution. That would be incredibly frustrating. Do you live with someone, such as a partner? I hope you have some social and emotional support from loved ones, as that can really make a difference. I'm glad you're seeing a psych and GP next week - hopefully that goes well.
If you would like reliable online mental health resources to work through, I highly recommend these:
http://www.cci.health.wa.gov.au/resources/infopax.cfm?Info_ID=37 (depression)
http://www.cci.health.wa.gov.au/resources/infopax.cfm?Info_ID=44 (panic attacks)
http://www.cci.health.wa.gov.au/resources/infopax.cfm?Info_ID=46 (anxiety)
It would be great to hear back from you.
Best wishes,
Zeal

Hi Mc62,
Thank you for reaching out, it sounds like you are really tired and life has been a really struggle. Like a cycle of hardship going around and around every day. You have done very well to get this far and keep it together;) What you are dealing with sounds exhausting and it must be frustrating to keep trying new medications and new things and nothing is quite right and you are right, then there are the side effects. I know that cycle of bills as well and stretching from one week to the next, honestly I can relate to that part. I don't know about you but sometimes I actually hang up the people calling me because I haven't got the energy to talk to them!!! Well the one good thing is you will see your psych and GP next week and hopefully they will review your medication and give you some strategies to help you find some meaning in your life and maybe give some advice on finances. I know it sounds ridiculous but have you ever seen a financial counsellor ? St Vincent De Pauls can help with one for free, they have NILS ( No interest Loans), centrelink can do advances sometimes and I know Vinnies can help with electricity and food. If you see a financial advisor they might ring up people you owe money to if you do and make a deal for you or help you do it. You can get things like "morotorium" where you get no interest and a break from payments. One thing I don't recommend is those people that advertise to consolidate your debts because they cost money and there is no guarantee. Vinnies have professional people that donate their time. I hope that isn't to much raving. You need to do things you love and reconnect with life again, sometimes life can become dull and mundane. Try new things and be proud of the things you do, even if its getting up:) Try my old friend rickhanson.net and "smiling minds" app and if your into mindfulness do palousemindfulness.com for free. When I felt down I loved watching you tube - Law Of Attraction it gave me hope of a better life or Wayne Dwyer ( God rest his soul). Please call on 1300 22 46 36 BB or lifeline 131114 and let us know how you are going if you feel like it:) Thinking of you and best wishes Nikkir x

Yea I'm aware of the debt consolidation thing
my main debts (concerning ones) are utility's rates water etc, I've lived with ought hot water for 3 years . As for any loan interest free or not it's simply unfeasable... if I take out an advance I suffer for the 13 pensions it takes to pay back...... I have spoken to the utility people but I just can't get ahead enough to even restock the pantry
ill keep my opinions on mindfulness to myself, as will I on psychologists ,best for all that way .

I guess what I have to do is to suggest medication strategies to the psyc and gp . a way to ease of one class of medication before the side effects outweigh the benifits and into another to carry me for a few months until I go back to the original (. Has in the past appeared not to be acumlative ( side effect or efectivness) wize
im just so tired

Hi Mc62. I'm sorry for your anger at what's happening in your life. You sound so tired and drained emotionally. You mention you're struggling on a pension, which barely covers any incidentals. Have you thought about seeing a financial advisor through C'link. The service is free and available to people who have similar problems. The financial advisor will help you set up a budget, possibly even arrange for you to apply for extra help financially. Also some churches have budget advice, this is arranged through the church council. Joining the church is not necessary. You won't necessarily get a loan, this could send you further into a downward spiral, but seeing a financial advisor could help you get medication, plus sort your utility problem. Some churches do help with food parcels, the food is donated by the congregation who have specific people who are there for that purpose. I used to help in that area, so the quality of the food is equal to what the people purchasing it would eat themselves.

Thanks for you're thoughts and ideas Lynda , re the anger , it's missing it that is more of an issue . It's an energy I turn on dep , if I'm angry at it I can fight it, as I get older I cease to care , that's more of an Issue....

Hi Mc62. You do sound drained with everything that's happening, or should I say not happening. When depression hits, our energy levels are affected to the point we 'switch off', or tell ourselves we don't care anymore, because it's 'easier' to do that. Also switching off means we can function without allowing ourselves to feel the pain. We almost operate on auto pilot because that way too, we can function without feeling. My daughter recently got caught up in a situation where she was offered drugs and alcohol. She wound up in the E.D. I went on 'auto pilot' because she needed me. My daughter is fine now, but because I 'switched off' I was able to function. I must admit to 'crashing' after I knew she was out of danger. The mind and body are amazing where they still function, because we seem to stop feeling.

Hi Mark,
Sorry to read you are in such a difficult place. Like others have mentioned, when depression really hits badly it is so difficult to find your "Get up and Go" when it has already "Gotten up and Gone!"
Are there organisations close by where you could obtain food vouchers or parcels just to help tide you over for a while?
The local council may be able to provide you with the names or organisations that may be able to help you.
A friend is on a pension, she organises for various companies to take money out of her bank each fortnight or month so the bills are not enormous when they do come in. Not sure if something like that would help.
Hope the Dr and Psychiatrist are helpful.
Cheers for now from Mrs. Dools
