Hi I've been on this forum before but it's been a while. I was really well for about 6 mths but in a really bad place at the moment once again I've had depression for 15 years now

I Left my job today as I couldn't cope anymore with the long days and trying to pretend I'm ok whilst being an anxious depressed mess

thanks in advance

Hi Paul, thanks so much for your post.

Its kind people like you who keep me moving forward. Thanks for your great advice I'm going to definately try a combo of therapy and meds, I feel I have to try everything as living like this is not living at all. 15 years is a very long time for you to cope with anxiety 😞 I guess we just have to keep up the good fight even when we feel we can't do it anymore.

Thanks so much for your support xx

Hey Katherine

Really appreciate you posting back 🙂

Depression or anxiety are both a serious pain......no different to a physiological problem....

The good news is that they both decrease in intensity with regular therapy and a good GP

The forums are a rock solid and non judgemental place for you.....even if you just need a chat!

Thankyou so much for being a part of the Beyond Blue family Katherine

my kind thoughts (and a hug for you if thats okay of course)

Paul

hello Katherine, some great replies from those above me.
It's impossible to pretend to other people giving them the impression that you are OK, because deep down you know that you're not, it will become too exhausting for you to keep this false facade going, you're fighting with depression.
It's great that you're had 6 months free from this illness, but we can't forget that we are susceptible to have a relapse, where there maybe a reason that you know or one you don't know about, but either way it's disappointing, and as I have said before, take it as though your car is going in to be serviced.
There will be much you have learned over these 6 months, trigger points to avoid or situations where you feel uncomfortable to also stay clear of, eventually these will your strong points, where you can actually say in getting depression, 'buzz off'. Geoff.

Thank for the reply Cpp,

I have being looking to find someone for awhile, all the psychologist I have contacted, 13 so far, either don't bulk bill, stopped bulk billing because it was too hard for them to get money from back from Medicare on time (which makes me some what annoyed at the Medicare system) or their siding scale is not affordable for me since I lost my job. I jokingly said to the last siding scale psychologists "hey, at least long walks along the beach are free". We both laughed before hanging up the phone simultaneously in the moment of awkward silence that followed.

So I thought I would give Mindspot service ago. I am also looking into getting into a student run clinic that is about $25 per visit but the waiting list to become a client is long.
