Hi Everyone I was watching tv today and the news was saying Depression and Substance Abuse is at the all time highest its ever been. Its very high with our youth especially and more higher with girls than boys.Just shows we have lots of work here in the future and it is becoming so common . Thank goodness for Beyond Blue and all the mental facilities that we do have and that we have do have to well the government has to fix this problem up with spending more money on mental health for future generations. Its great we can come on these forums and share all our experiences we can all help each other get through this terrible disease.

Hi Nes, I can definitely relate to the correlation between substance abuse and mental health especially amongst the youth community.

We as human beings have a curious nature. We seek to expand our knowledge and experiences through travel, education, the way we relate to others and to experiment with drugs for example.

Fact: There will always be medications/illicit drugs out there. Fact: It feels good to take certain medications/illicit drugs. Human curiosity combined with the two facts stated can be disastrous for some, and harmless for others. It can be the difference between use and abuse. Some are equipped with the ability to stave off abuse and some aren't.

We need MORE focus on emotional/feeling/thought education especially in the primary years. Infants learn and obtain certain thought processes that are potential bases for their entire lives, and that is the most critical time to learn how to act/react in a productive and positive manner.

dear Nes, it's becoming a real problem now, and I see that there are many single posts asking for help and/or advice, so could anyone ask any friends who might want to be involved so that they jump on board and help out.

Because this site is finally been recognised the load is becoming a bit heavy for some of us, and we can't reply to everyone who posts. L Geoff. x
