Thought this might be a bit of fun, and also interesting.

Start from the beginning one at a time, describe it as you wish.

My first job was mowing my nan and pops lawn, I would ride my bike 5ks and totally loved doing it for them.

My first part time job was in a record store, then a jewellry store, then a clothing store all in our local shopping strip. I then worked full time for the clothing store when i finished school but across town, my parents were not impressed but i loved it. After a car accident that I almost did not survive I couldn't not work. After 6 months I was so bored one day and frustrated i applied for a job in a bank and got it. After 13 years and many different roles in the bank I went back to retail for a few years then went back to the bank for job security and more stable hours but hated it. I don't know what is next for me.

I have had sooo many; I started as a 13yr old doing the milk run, this was then followed by: kids vacation & after school care, early childcare, croupier (casino dealer), bar attendant, sign writer, lab technician (my most favourite job ever), debt collector, financial investigator and finally objections officer. Due to workplace bullying, I was medically retired before 40! Now I just write and practice my art. I have a published book titled "Deakon the Dragon is Sad" and I'm currently working on my second book.

Hi Everyone,

Reading through this list had me thinking to some of the more obscure jobs I did for a while including, Lobster cleaner and packer at SAFCOL, detailing buses in Alice Springs and builder's assistant where I worked on concreting.

Then there were years working in shops, aged care and child care. A new chapter is about to open with me looking for work again.

hello 9 names later, good post to start off with, well most of my jobs are where I got sacked most of the time.
I started off at a big biscuit company, one you know, then also had other jobs at the same time, cleaning CSRIO offices, packing shelves at a food chain store and picking up rubbish for a chap who had numerous number of different flats, using a small little truck and earning the princely sum of $1.50 an hour, as well as pulling out rusty nails from wood he had collected, then I asked for a rise to $2.00 an hour but got sacked.
Then got a job as a statistical clerk at a big tool company, got sacked as I had just got married and left on the dot to go and pick my wife up, then sacked.
Then started a handyman business in Melb, then moved to a family pub in Bendigo, left there struggle with BIL, employed as a manager in another hotel in Gipps. which ended because of an injury, then worked for a chicken company everybody would know of, but then head hunted to be the manager of a new complex food restaurant, where I also got sacked.
Began handyman/builder which lasted for a number of years up until my breakdown, and now sitting here at my desk. Geoff.

Hi Later,

This is an interesting idea for a thread.

I'd love to see if anyone has had jobs they would recommend for people with a mental illness?

I've worked in retail a lot. My favourite jobs were all nursery work (as in plant nurseries). Physically busy and outdoors and good for me. The downside was the pay rate but I'd recommend it to anyone regardless.

My first job was selling vegetables at a market stall for my family(abroad) then after I finished high school I joined a called centre which I did for 9 months. I left that job to move to Australia. I then worked at McDonald's and did Childcare. I was employed for 8 years in childcare before I trained to be a Trainer and Assesor.

I am now unemployed, wants to work( for the money and to contribute to the economy) but I do not know what I want to do or rather I feel there is nothing that I am good at and can do.
