I got to admit,I love reading at the best of times. Those of us who love to read tend to get the most out of books.I'm a big fan of books that I can learn from.Self help books, relationship books, etc. There's something worth learning.I even read up on dating books just to relearn some skills. As a guy I also love the guy stuff, cars, hobbies, interests, man cave, etc.
What book are you reading? What books are you reading? What helps you?
Thanks.

Picked up Chelsea Handler's autobiography - she's funny and has had an interesting life. She also has a pretty fraught relationship with her dad which I can relate to.

Liz Phair's 'Horror Stories' from 2019. Seriously recommend it, even if you've never heard of her (US singer/songwriter/guitarist). Not a traditional autobio. Just chapters about specific events in her life. Could nearly be written by someone from any profession. Very honest and open. For example, her thought processes and emotions while having an affair that ultimately ended her marriage. Other widely differing tirals & tribulations.
As a fan for 27 years, I highly recommend her music too 🙂

Glad to be of help, Sleepy.
The highlight of the past two years was Liz venturing down under & getting to see her live. She touched my hand, too. Total fanboy mode!

Nah, not met. Just 2 foot from the stage. Never been that close to someone I've been a fan of for so long.
Recommendations? Personally I'd steer away from the major label stuff (her 4th album - self titled, and 5th - Somebody's Miracle). At least initially. Her lyrics were far more interesting on her indie stuff.
And definitely stay well away from her last - Funstyle. It actually wasn't supposed to be released.
I'd say her most accessible album is her 3rd, Whitechocolatespaceegg, which features the single 'Polyester Bride' and the awesome 'Uncle Alvarez'.
But I'd start with her debut, Exile in Guyville. It's a lo-fi production. Lyrically brilliant...although very explicit in parts to the point that when people lost their heads over Alanis dropping an f-bomb a few years later, I laughed.
But songs like Divorce Song, F... and Run, Stratford-On-Guy, Never Said, Help Me Mary, Mesmerizing....heck, the whole album!
Probably her two most well-known songs are 'Supernova' from her 2nd album (the video received a fair bit of air time), and 'Why Can't I?' from her 4th (I've even heard this one being played in a supermarket...minus its f-bomb).

Hi - supernova did come up first - maybe it's a very hot video or something? seems to be the most iconic song. The third album sounds like a good one to go with = cool title polyester bride - lol.
it is amazing to stand here someone you've admired...
Seeing them up close is a real moment! Glad you had that moment.
I'll have a look at some of the songs you mentioned from the earlier indie albums... and first to check out that SuperNova clip which keeps coming up on my search feed. Gotta see what the fuss is all about! Thanks Fade2black

Dear Sleepy21
Sir Michael Cain wrote 3 autobiographies
What's It All About? in 1992, The Elephant to Hollywood in 2010, and Blowing the Bloody Doors Off: And Other Lessons in Life in 2018
I like the first best. If you can find any of them they are an entertaining and interesting read about one of my favorite journeyman actors.
I' just reading the Jack Reacher series by Lee Child. I like it and I'm delighted to say there are umpteen of them, I do like a series (with happy endings)

I like how he met his wife by hunting her down internationally after seeing her in an advertisement or show (I can't remember?)
They seem very happy together.
That series sounds amazing
