I got to admit,I love reading at the best of times. Those of us who love to read tend to get the most out of books.I'm a big fan of books that I can learn from.Self help books, relationship books, etc. There's something worth learning.I even read up on dating books just to relearn some skills. As a guy I also love the guy stuff, cars, hobbies, interests, man cave, etc.

What book are you reading? What books are you reading? What helps you?

Thanks.

Thanks Moonstruck, some good memoir ideas there. Lots of ones I'd like to check out. I love Jacki Weaver she's a fantastic actress in everything she does.

Michael Caine's life also looks very interesting.
I read Judith Lucy's autobiography - amazing.

Dear Sleepy21

I can vouch for "What's it all about" an autobiography Michael Caine and also "The Two of Us: My Life with John Thaw", a biography/autobiography be Sheila Hancock.

Croix...Michael Caine wrote a couple more after that one too....that's the thing with living a long life,....one has to keep updating one's autobiography!!! Like that TV show This Is Your Life...when some of the celebrities chosen were only in their 30s, 40s!!!

Hi - thanks for the recommendation - never knew Michael Caine was such a prolific author.

Another few books I enjoyed- The Colour of Water which is so moving.

And a new books called Heavy: An American Memoir by Kiese Laymon and Hunger by Roxane Gay - both memoirs dealing with mental health

Hey! I hope everyone has been doing well! It's been a while since I had the time to check into the forums, so sending my best wishes to all of you!

Lately I've been reading a lot of the Moominvalley books! They are kids books (technically!) but Tove Jansson has some of the most expressive and genuine characters I have ever read in a book. They really resonate with me, and I'd whole heartedly suggest borrowing one for a relatively easy read about heartfelt moments in life.

I won't ramble too much about it, but she has a real talent for capturing complex emotions and vulnerability in such a compassionate way. It's very inspiring and uplifting!

Hi everyone, I can't believe I hadn't noticed this thread until just now!

I love reading! This year I have found it much more challenging to be able to concentrate on reading books . . . I find that my mind keeps wandering to other things going on in the world. A friend suggested I try reading something short and easy like kids/teen books and I have to admit that I am enjoying re-reading novels that I haven't read since I was a child! I find that the content can be a lot lighter than adult novels and I think that at the moment they are just what I need. These past few months I've read most of Roald Dahl's novels, The Red King by Victor Kelleher, Pigs Might Fly by Emily Rodda, some of the Goosebumps novels, and most of Paul Jennings "Un" books (Uncanny, Unmentionable, Unseen, Undone, Unreal, Unbearable). Being shorter novels, it is easy to get through a book in the one sitting. I have also been reading some 'Grown up' books too - The Body Keeps The Score (about trauma) and The Emotion Code.

I used to love the Moomintroll books Nimi! It's so good to hear someone else is enjoying them!

I'm reading Waiting by Philip Salom, about two people living in a boarding house in inner Melbourne - Salom writes with so much heart about poor lonely people with MH issues - and it's sweet/sad/very funny...this is the second time I've read it through I loved it so much.

Hey Fred - I love that suggestion.
I read those Paul Jennings books obsessively as a kid and would love to return to them as an adult - so so deep

any stories you particularly like? any other teen books you're getting into? Would love to hear how you go reading YA and kids fiction - it's a great idea

the body keeps the score changed my like

I've also heard that Waking the Tiger by Peter Levine is a similarly insightful book on trauma, but i'm yet to read that one!
