What Book/Books Are You Reading?

I got to admit,I love reading at the best of times. Those of us who love to read tend to get the most out of books.I'm a big fan of books that I can learn from.Self help books, relationship books, etc. There's something worth learning.I even read up on dating books just to relearn some skills. As a guy I also love the guy stuff, cars, hobbies, interests, man cave, etc.

What book are you reading? What books are you reading? What helps you?

Thanks.

Dear Hanna3

A little bit of SHOUTING just livens things up:)

I'm afraid all you folks that can read of the really tragic events of the world are more robust than I. I try to retreat to happier worlds.

I've recently finished "American Gods" by Neil Gaiman (I hope he writes the announced sequel) and am now watching the US TV series of the same name.

Oh dear it does look like I was shouting doesn't it Croix! What's your book about (briefly - and you can whisper if you want to)...

Dear Hannah~

It's about an ex-con who finds after his release that a number of people who come into his life are in fact gods transposed from their original countries in the beliefs of immigrants to the US. The gods are weakening as belief in them dies down in a modern age.

The book follows his adventures interacting with them . Quite serious in parts but it does have a happy ending:) There are three spin-offs

ooh here's this thread!

I'm currently reading I Will Miss You Tomorrow by Heine Bakkeid, and I have next up The Prettiest Horse in the Glue Factory by Corey White.

I'd really love to read Viktor Frankl's Man's Search for Meaning, but I've heard it's a bit detailed and I'm sensitive to that sort of thing. What a shame as I think there would be some real value in his writing.

Sounds interesting thanks Croix! I'd see if my local library has it but the new Head Librarian is seriously scary...

Dear Hanna3~

Most states and territories allow you to go online, do a search of the entire state's holdings, and allow you to reserve a book to be placed on hold at your local library ready for you to go in and pick up. My library emails me when one I asked for comes in.

If you are into audio books on cds they too can be ordered, and some material is available for direct download.

HTH

Dear Katy~

Man's Search for Meaning is available in early edition on the internet, however I'd personally not recommend it unless one has a very clinical mind. The Diary of Anne Frank is another. Nowadays I do not wish to repeat my feelings over inhumanity and cruelty.

Hi all

Just finished reading Breath by Tim Winton. It's beautifully written and I believe a Miles Franklin Award winner. Read it in two days (couldn't put it down) but I still wouldn't recommend it to all, as it contains themes (suicide and sexual abuse) that could be mental health triggers. Approach with caution!

Hope you're all enjoying your summer reading.

Summer Rose ,

my favourite Tim Winton.book is Dirt Music , He writes so well and
I find it hard to pick a favourite.
I am not reading much at the moment as I can’t focus, but I miss having my books around.
Quirky

Nine Perfect Strangers...by Liane Moriarty (also wrote Big Little Lies).

I cannot put it down (and I don't even usually read fiction)....

Hi Quirky

I will definitely find a copy of Dirt Music, as I love Tim's writing style. I was reading through the Coping with bush fires thread and understand you're having a tough time. I'm so sorry. I hope you are looking after yourself.

You are in my thoughts and prayers.
