I got to admit,I love reading at the best of times. Those of us who love to read tend to get the most out of books.I'm a big fan of books that I can learn from.Self help books, relationship books, etc. There's something worth learning.I even read up on dating books just to relearn some skills. As a guy I also love the guy stuff, cars, hobbies, interests, man cave, etc.

What book are you reading? What books are you reading? What helps you?

Thanks.

Hi Silverdingo (and others)

Thank you for the recommendation of ‘The Tattooist of Auschwitz’. Recently finished it and like you I was captivated. It was so different from other Holocaust stories, mostly in the sensitive yet honest way in which the author (Heather Morris) dealt with the very complex notion of collaboration. Of course, the real life love story in the midst of such horror is unforgettable. Thank you again for the suggestion.

Oooo I read that one in honesty a couple hours and it had me sobbing 😭 so beautiful and tragic at the same time!

I love to get lost in books... sigh! when I was really unwell I found it difficult to concentrate, so listened to audiobooks or re-read my favs. I too love fantasy and science fiction. Robin Hobb, Raymond Feist, Douglas Adams being amongst my favourite authors. I was lucky enough to of met Robin Hobb (author of the Assasin's Apprentice series) a couple of years ago! I also love love classics such as Jane Austen. When I'm feeling a bit blue sometimes books feel like a warm hug! currently reading "The subtle Art of Not Giving A F..." like all self help books has some take away messages and others that I need to think a bit more about before I can decide. Also Podcasts! Podcasts! Podcasts! Did I mention podcasts on anything and everything are fabulous. A great one to start off for lovers of fiction is "Fictional" by Jason Weiser. Happy reading & listening.

You run a bookstore?!? Dream job I'm sure like all jobs it has its moments) but wow I'd love to work in a bookstore! is it great?

ooo these sound great! right up my alley.

Big Sci-Fi/Fantasy fan here. Recently finished the Lyonesse trilogy by Jack Vance, good read overall, though it does contain some rather distressing depictions of abusive parents. Still, would highly recommend if you're looking for some good Arthurian fantasy.

Going to have to look into getting an ereader or something soon, I'm exhausting my libray's supply of good reads at quite a rate!

Hey everyone!

Right now, I'm reading a book called The Dark Moon, by Julia Gray. It is about a boy with a twisted arm and leg who goes on a big adventure to save his friend.

Dear Bluegirl2014 and all~

You mentioned podcasts and S/F & S/Fantasy. I've been reading that sort of thing for a very long time. My favorite S/Fantasy author is L.E.Modessit Jr. (I've read Hobb too).

The reason I'm posting is that there is a site called Librivox that has an awful lot of free legal audio-books including Jack Vance , try Googling it.

If you feel that way you can be a volunteer reader too. All good stuff.

My favourites are autobiographies...people's real lives are stranger than fiction.

just finished the one by Olympic swimmer Leisl Jones and have Sally Field's on order at the library.

Reading an older one at the moment, by British actress, Sarah Miles.."Serves me right". early in her career she had affair with Sir Laurence Olivier...
