Dear Newstartdeclined~

I guess your name says it all, at present you can't get a benefit - or am I assuming too much?

Being unemployed is one of the worst and most soul-destroying things, and that's on Newstart, I can't imagine it without. If I'm not being too pushy can I ask why it was declined?

Perhaps then people could answer in more than just general terms.

I do know one thing that seems to help a bit. When you are seeking work there is a lot to do, even just sending in applications takes a great deal of time. Then after all the effort, you hear nothing, or sometimes get an interview that goes nowhere.

The idea is to split you life so that all the negative does not take over. Maybe have a set time each morning when you attend to job matters, then the rest of the day where you put it all out of your mind. Play sport, read books, talk with people, do whatever you enjoy and can look forward to. If it is something you are good at so much the better.

I'd also like to ask if you have any support, family, partner or a freind to lean on at the moment? It does help.

Hi Newstart.

Sorry to hear of your unemployment issues.

If you don’t mind me asking, what sort of work have you done in the past?

What sort of work are you applying for?

How are you applying for work?

Personally I find it best to apply for a wide variety of roles that may be within my skill set. Think about what your strengths are.

Have you contacted multiple employment agencies? They may even be able to place you in a temporary role (view it as a chance to prove yourself.

Use JobSearch websites too but don’t limit yourself to those. Do you have family or friends that could you might be able to get help from (do they have jobs at their work?).

Try and find something outside work too. Ie a hobby or club or sport or some volunteer work.

Best of luck with finding work mate!
