It would be so great to have a thread here where we can chat about almost anything. We can have fun, tell jokes, share stories, you name it!

There's a "BB Cafe" thread in the general area where lots of people chat daily and have established some nice light hearted conversations, it's treated as if it's a real cafe, there's even virtual baked goods and coffee!

Let's create a chat here for anyone to join, in particular the GLBTIQ community to let their collective hair down and chill out. It's a safe space to be yourself.

Hi Amber & Sarah lol to you both . Amber you are very lucky to of found that patch as they are very toxic . I smoked a pipe for about 5 yrs in another life and used patches to quit and squashed 1 hard against my skin while sleeping . I was so sick and never smoked again , if that is nicotine , not in my body !!!

Thank you for make up tips , I am at the beginning of that road , got eyelashes dyed as got sick of stabbing right eye ( left handed ) with mascara brush ! Can laugh now but it hurts ?? I had a look at strawberry blond and I think that red would be good . I have always loved that candy apple red that Honda used on motorcycles in the 70's . Maybe my fave colour . North of Glendambo & south of Marla is Cadney Homestead . While scurrying back to Katherine after being involved with a convoy of 7 army tanks from Robertson Barracks ( Darwin ) to Edinburgh base in Adelaide I stopped there for the night . Had an entertaining very memorable evening and good sleep ( much needed ). Even got to watch " Upper Middle Bogan " while I had a light beer and excellent dinner . Bear in mind that was 2014 !

I adore trips the full length of the Stuart Hwy . It where a lot of fellows go to fill their days with their beloved trucks till they go to the big truckstop in the sky . xxx

There is a bit of hurry but mostly its old school and respectful . Have seen a lot of that country described as miles of bugga all rolled out flat . Yep that says it all . Had to get tbe road atlas out to get Cadney's name and now there is a stirring ? The sky is big and truck is idling LD in the bunk while the billy boils and an egg for breaky . Chains & straps done , tires good . Be off soon to see what the day has in store for us . mmmm ( a touch of melancholy )

Hello out there and to all Good morning, LD sure lives life large for a wee doggy, egg imaginary muffins and a billy can, awesome. What sort of music did you prefer in the truck? I love our local country music radio yesterday I was singing along with a chick singing about 'livin on truck stop burgers an fries' at first I though she said Bird and Fries, I probably heard that because I would prefer to eat chicken and chips over burgers. Funny how the brain can hear what is familiar over fact. Next week I will do an orientation for new employees and one of the recruits is the young man who's mum assaulted me. I had all last weekend to think about the ancient history and how to rebury the past and then I realized that it is Diva who has given me the power. First let me say that I will not unduly yap and bark at this boy, like Diva would. But Diva does shows me time and again, how easy it can be to just wipe that slate clean and rewrite the script in a better lite. I know not everyone can do this 'and I get it sorry for you troubles' but I am of a simple mind and so a child like concept works for me, mostly because I like the easy way out. That KISS thing ' keep it simple stupid' SEGWAY and yes the guitar man returns and of course still out of key I don't like to be pushy so I refrain from helping, he is so focused and repetitive. I think, like I heard bird and fries he hears music. Awful me, on a brighter note I see birds in pairs everywhere getting ready to nest so spring is almost upon us. Oh your stories warm my heart and I must say that the mention of the mascara brush and poking you in the eye did bring a smile to my face. They are not to be messed with and almost take a degree to understand how to operate to get maximum effectiveness without the eye poke..do not take for granted the way you have to hold your mouth too...lol...very important!

Ohh I am very excited at the notion to "watch this space", I am wondering what that could be and as my brain goes into over drive I just know it will be awesome and amazing.

Busy day at work today and I have a head cold that has arrived so I am feeling less than 100% infact more like 60% but I am hoping to get some extra long rest in over the weekend with the lockdown now in full swing. I just want to be well for Wednesday's jab! The footy is on tonight and my team are playing so I am actually looking forward to sitting on the couch with something yummy to eat, Oodie on and just being warm and toasty and flicking between the Olympics and the footy, then fall into bed!

I am also about to start doing some volunteering for a group that do showers and clothes washing for people are homeless. I am in the early stages of learning about that so feel like that could be another space for me to operate in and give something back to the community, it really is just devastating to hear how many people actually do not have a home.

I got given a bunch of fresh rhubarb today so I am going to stop off at the supermarket and get some apples and some pastry and see if I can make some sort of rhubarb and apple pie...stay tuned for how that turns out..lol

Kids back to home schooling next week so will have to get all the tables and things out for them to set up so we can cram on top of each other, yell about the internet speed and generally get on each other's nerves...lol....well it is not that bad but hmmmm it is not that good either!

I hope that your day has been good and your little princess has been awake for some of the day to talk to you..lol...I can just see her all bundled up and snug as a bug...bless xx

I to like country music , a mix of that and blues ( Delta & electric , specially with a good dose of slide and original rock and roll xxx ) . Pretty broad but thats me , can sit in a corner in most places and lap up whats on offer , specially talent !

NT trip will be awesome , as will planning . I have many memories of trucking into Darwin . Mostly on the west coast though . First trip was in late 70's . Wow that makes me feel old 👎 . 1000 MILES of dirt then on the western track , and a track it was back then in places . Bulldust rain potholes & corrugations were the enemy ??

Could only do 2 trips with 2 trailers per month . Often no days off ? All changed now ?

Thats where living on 4 hrs a night comes from . Just had to pull up & check the back trailer ? Got another coffee . Rolling now . I do miss the early days , every one of them was its own adventure !

In 2012 LD& I rode the K100 ( old Beema ) to Perth to try to turn the clock back . In that sense trip was a monumental failure . Had its good moments to and the lesson was learned .

Have been asking my gods ( abstract changeable bunch ) to get everyone vaccinated asap and make your cold retreat so you are good on Wednesday .

Homeless is such a scary complex issue . Clean clothes & body , food , warmth , dry shelter , safety and health care ( particularly mental ) ! You are a,true champion ❤❤❤ much love for that .hugs xxx

I keep going out here by keeping the glass half full . Sometimes I have to scrub very hard to keep the windscreen clean , specially driving into a sunrise !

Happy Saturday, I took the dogs to the town park and they each found and ate a fallen bird egg. Moby's guts can handle an egg but I regret letting tiny Diva gob hers. The Mascara Massacre, I tried eyelash dye and it was not for me so I cheat and I use aloe vera gel and the manual eyelash curler. It works like hair gel for the lashes and holds the curl well. Anyhow these are such first world issues compared to homelessness, awesome cause to help. We have a lot of people who descend to camp in town during the hottest weather and they are by far top sorts. This morning in the car with the country radio hooting I was singing along with ' you can buy dirt but you can't buy love', so informative and so funny. Jo you wrote 'first trip was in late 70's' that sounds almost psychedelic but I know it is not. My Pa drove trucks inland in the outback he is listed for his endeavors, in my opinion all dirt and rough road truckers deserve to make the hall of fame. True grit and intestinal fortitude I bet it was your glass half full outlook that helped you then as it serves you now. Anyhow best of luck for BBQ tomorrow, I would be honored to meet you as I am sure the group will be. Now I am about to cheat and fill out the census early, then I will have a snooze with the dogs, just 6 more weeks with lamb duty and I am buggered.

Amber , I am thinking regarding little dogs,that they might be more prone to upset tummies ? LD has a very fickle gut ? We live with it and most of the time it is ok . She nearly died once when she was baby sat and the people knew best and did not stick to her diet ! She was so sick . I recall sitting in the lounge chair at 0230 with her laying in my lap so weak she couldn't lift her head , I had a syringe and was putting little bits of water in her mouth trying to rehydrate her . She only just made it . We were waiting for for Jo ( the vet ) at sunrise and they had rehydration stuff so after a day on a drip we came home .

I like your dads sentiment about the old days . We were the tail end of those pioneering endeavours perhaps ? We all face challenges every day although sometimes we dont notice them ? Psychedelic , mmm remember that to ?

Hi Sarah , am in awe of you reaching out to help so much . Homeless is a very confronting issue , both for the homeless and those who care in society . Winter would be so stressful .

I am worried about the direction Australia is heading to . Costello sold everything communally owned to balance the books then the economically driven society took over . User pays ! I get that but now so much is left to volunteers and they are up to the job but things like mental health , all health really is just so very very underfunded . Pork barrelling car parks in marginal seats ? REALLY !!!

I see a lot of love around me despite whatever else is going on in the world . That gives me hope , often I feel warm and fuzzy , random acts of kindness to are so beautiful . My childhood excluded me from learning personal love and sad as that is it allows me to connect to the cosmic or universal love that ebbs and flows all around us ., I am able to truly love everything , thus glass half full . Makes me solitary but thats how it is and its ok . xxx❤❤❤

Hello to all who visit the cafe and yes I agree small dogs are more vulnerable and have gentle needs. The LD, near death story had me near to tears. It has been a hard day around here, I am usually prone to feeling either, mad sad, bad or glad, ' I know' limited emotions like the primary colors and today it was bad. I just wish for tomorrow so I can restart and probably choose to be glad. Any ho, I need to leave it there, see you all tomorrow

Yesterday ! A very long day as was up way to early . Nearly went into hibernate mode a couple of times ? Left here around 0900 and got home at 1700 . By the time had fed HRS & myself showered etc I went to bed . Took 3 coffees to get from 1700 to 1930 👎 A quick look at fb ( becoming a lookin at mah fone person ) . Not really ! Then sleep till 0001 , dogs and drunks across the road ? Whatever ?

Bbq was great , only 7 people + 2 that I invited . Met some new people all younger than me of course , but all very lovely humans . I suggested that I would like to do it every month and that was popular ! Probably second Sunday in the month .

One lady there was civilian police person who works in the police station there,( in qld they they have civilians do day to day running in most police stations ) , she is LGBTIQ liaison officer . Had a really good chat with her . Very sincere and interesting lady .
