The Blue Room: Chill Out space

Hi everyone,

In our last member survey, there were a few suggestions for us to create a space called the Blue Room, a chill out space for sharing calming videos and sounds. So here it is!

Our forum software can't embed videos automatically yet, so if you'd like to contribute a video, just post in here with the link from Youtube and one of the mods or myself will be able to convert it for you. Also let us know why you've chosen the video and a bit about it, so people know why you find it calming.

I'll start off... with, of course, a cat video. Where would the internet be without them? This is Catcerto. The story started with Nora, a little cat who likes getting up and having a bit of a noodle at the piano. Her owner filmed it, and then someone went to the trouble of composing a whole orchestral piece around it and syncing it up with Nora's video for a live performance. Joy, cuteness, and human ingenuity. That's why I love it.

Please share your video links below.

Ohh such a zen page!

Well when I'm stressed (or depressed) calming sounds just annoy me so I tend to lose myself in vlogs and random clips on youtube. I really like videos of babies and animals and I have my own youtube playlist for it -

This is one of my favs -

1) Baby laughing hysterically at ripped paper

2) Not sure if this is allowed because it's not a youtube video but sites like these can be pretty calming and lots of people I've recommended it to have enjoyed it

This Is Sand < that one you click on the screen and it makes the colour look like sand and you can change colours and make it pile up in different places

The Thoughts Room < that one you write down your thoughts and it explodes into tiny fireworks so you can release all your emotions

Pixel Thoughts < that one you write down one thing that bothers you and it disappears into the sky reminding you that it's just a thought and only a thought

Hi Chris, yes I do have some favourite ones. This one below is a song, that very much speaks to me personally about hanging on. Hanging on when it seems so dark. Hanging on when you feel unloved or alone. It is sung by Britt Nicole.

Awesome submissions, thank you everyone!

I really recommend trying out Pixel Thoughts in romantic_thi3f's list. It's very cool.

So I kind of love a love story. It reminds me of some of the happy and less complicated times.

Also, by virtue of hearing problems and curiosity I have a couple of languages now that I can follow a story in, it has opened the world up and provides so many more distractions then English alone. I have this that I want to share.

It is Brazilian Portuguese but has the english subtitles available in the Youtube if you want them. It is called, I don't want to go back alone. With what has happened in Orlando, having some latin voices in the house is important for me to honour that part of our community.

Not sure if you will find this calming, but it's good for those who like to solve puzzles. I think I finally worked it out, but I'm still not sure why it works.

Hi Chris, This is an old (2008) Surf Lifesaving commercial for Foxtel with the best 'calming' soundtrack I have ever heard. The music was written by an Aussie and the clip was funded by DHL.

Its called.."Whatever It Takes" and was originally made for NSW & QLD....It is BLISS:-)

Its only goes for 1 Minute:-) Give it a spin people....Paulx

Paul, I like the inspiration of the Be more Dog ads... It's a message for living.

This is my favourite book from my childhood, "Harry the dirty dog." read by my favourite golden girl, Betty White.

and this one...

Me and My Cat read by Elijah Wood

It balances out the dog and is a ripper of a book.

Hi All,

These are really good! Such a wonderful variety of things to look at and listen to from Racoons to Puzzles!

Keep them coming for people like me who are a little technologically challenged and have no idea how to share these things here! Ha. Ha.
