The BB cafe is open for business!
Welcome all to a new chill and chat place for everyone on the forum.
The BB cafe is whatever you want it to be. There are comfy sofas, tables and chairs, coffee machines, a kitchen stocked with everything. There's a pool outside, a bbq area, an annexe with comfy beds for a quiet sleep, tv, dvd, books and whatever else you would like to have here.
Most of all, it's a place to meet friends and fellow travellers for a bit of company. Talk over problems, tell jokes, share your day, escape into a world of your making. Grab a coffee and pull up a chair ...
So, with a nod to the wonderful Carole King (Hard Rock Cafe) ...
Now if you're feeling just a little bit lonely
Don't sit at home just mopin'
Come on down to where the friendship flows freely
You know the door is always open
At the BB cafe
Come to the BB cafe
They will help keep your blues at bay
At the BB cafe

mmMeKitty, I’ve been thinking about where you said about possibly getting another cat at some stage. Not far from where I am there is business called “cherished pets” who employee volunteers to assist elderly or people with disability to have a pet at home. Their services including feeding pet and removal of waste, grooming. May also include vet trips and ensuring pet is given worm and flea treatment. Information I read when looking into volunteer work advises exact requirements are negotiated between pet owner and staff member from Cherished Pets. May be there is something similar to where you are

Hi KazzI
I thought I'd drop in for a chat, coffee??
It is about to rain here and going to have pizza tonight, so I thought to say hello 👋
What's being happening here at the BB Cafe?
Winter has certainly going, going, gone! But we now start a new season, it won't be the same as last years and I'm not sure if this is correct, is it El Niño time or not??? No-one has actually said that it is for sure, does anybody know?????

Hi BigB, Patches, Moon & everyone
BigB, it would seem we could well be in for another l Niño, but it has not yet been officially declared - we're on l El Niño Alert'. I've only heard talk of the likelihood of a hot, dry summer ahead.
Much as I don't like feeling 'freezing' (well, not literally, for sure), I also don't like feeling I am in a fan-forced oven either.
Moon, all the prawns are yours!
I'd be very happy with crumbed fish on a roll spread with garlic butter & some aolli .... yum. [LRC looks up with much interest] "Meow!", which means, 'Me too!'
... & that was yesterday. Somehow I managed not to post that text.
Today, I was caught out in a heavy rain shower, just when I wanted to leave the gym for home. When we were outside an hour earlier, having lunch in the park, there didn't seem any possibility of rain. & earlier tonight I heard there was a high likelihood of thunder storms, but have heard none.
Patches, thank you for the idea. I had not heard of a place like that. Looks like that place is too far from me.

Was a lovely day here weather wise.
I had a entire lazy day doing almost nothing
bought a eye mask today, hoping it works as if room is completely dark
Started raining few minutes ago with lots of wind.
ear plugs I’ve got don’t fully block out all noise but better than nothing.
one item on list to aim to do tomorrow is buy some different ear plugs from different store.

Hello Patches & everyone
I was talking to someone earlier, on the phone, & there was an approaching storm where they are, but nothing seems to be happening here tonight.
But for all the noise in my head, I long for silence & complete darkness. These things re not possible for me anymore.
I think, maybe I wouldn't really like it, because I've heard people who had experiences in isolation tanks could hear their own bodies at work & also would (after some long while) begin to 'see things' anyway. So, maybe not ...
I've had disappointing day, so I am glad to relax now, if I don't suddenly feel exhausted. That rather irritates me when I still have some things to do tonight.
I really feel like another pastry ...sauteed onion, spinach & cheese? Yum!
Hugzies to everyone

Hello everyone….🤗🤗..
I’m not really good in storms, so I’m pleased that the one we just had is gone now…I do like to watch the lightening lighting up the mountains in the distance once it’s left my area…and the gentle rumbling of the thunder in the distance….strange how the beautiful storm I’m watching from a distance, was, just a half hour ago, causing me no end of anxiety and fear…
Spring is on its way…my Daisies are in bloom, my Peace Lillies are in flower and are so beautiful and my Mulberry Tree has new tiny leaves all over it…
I made lots of Jelly today, all different flavours…along with a huge tub of custard, which I put in the cafes fridge and freezers….I’m about to dish myself up some strawberry jelly and then smothering it with vanilla custard…
Hoping everyone has a calm and peaceful evening/night.
Grandy..

I’m not good in storms either. I’m ok and enjoy hearing the rolling thunder when it is in the distance. Lightning regardless how near or far puts me straight into high alert and fear.
thunder close by and me are not friends at all, absolutely dislike the sound.
my mother in law was same with thunder. Remember he telling me how, holding onto her hubbys arm so tightly, she broke his arm once due to fear in thunder storm.
has been a fairly calm day here today, bit overcast currently. Went out for a drive this morning with the weather being lovely when I left home. About 10minutes prior to my destination and it was raining very hard. Thank goodness was only light drizzle when I got to my destination

I love the wobbliness of jelly! Last time I made jelly with the cherries in syrup I made it so thick it didn't wobble. It was yummy, though. I think I'd like some chocolate custard & cream, to kind of make an impressionistic dessert, reminding people of a black forest cake.... which I didn't find for my birthday ... maybe next year.
All the noise of a severe storm overhead & all around does make me anxious. Didn't used to until I lived in a flat upstairs where the noise was very loud indeed. Since that time, even though I am now in a ground floor unit, & don't hear as much, it still gets to me when the sound builds & becomes loud. I'll either get into bed, as if that will keep me safe, or I will pace about, going from one room to the other, as if looking for an escape.
I want to see where the storm is coming from & then watch to see the direction the clouds are moving, & how fast. That's becoming hard to do so the uncertainty could be contributing to my anxiety, just not being able to even guess at how long the storm might last.
When I was young, & up until I lived in that unit, I was excited by storms, watching lightning & counting while waiting for the thunder to roll & listening for how it rolled from one part of the sky to another.
I think the fear might be an ancient fear, something instinctual, too, maybe?

I haven’t made jelly for ages. Last couple times that come to mind would have been when I made triffle. I use continental biscuits around the edge of the bowl which I have cut into halves, the jelly slowly filing the spaces between the biscuits until the jelly fully sets.
I used to enjoy going to sleep listening to the rain. Last couple years I’m now the opposite. The heavier the rain is the faster my heart feels to beat, thank goodness for ear plugs. Doesn’t abnormally worry me as an adult but as a young child I had a strong fear of fire. My parents used a little light which had a flame as night light for me. One evening news showed fires burning somewhere, that night I woke screaming about flames and fire. Following day mum bought night light that plugged into the wall.
fear of fire possibly instinctual. Interesting that few of us have mentioned how storms impact us
