The BB cafe is open for business!
Welcome all to a new chill and chat place for everyone on the forum.

The BB cafe is whatever you want it to be. There are comfy sofas, tables and chairs, coffee machines, a kitchen stocked with everything. There's a pool outside, a bbq area, an annexe with comfy beds for a quiet sleep, tv, dvd, books and whatever else you would like to have here.

Most of all, it's a place to meet friends and fellow travellers for a bit of company. Talk over problems, tell jokes, share your day, escape into a world of your making. Grab a coffee and pull up a chair ...

So, with a nod to the wonderful Carole King (Hard Rock Cafe) ...

Now if you're feeling just a little bit lonely
Don't sit at home just mopin'
Come on down to where the friendship flows freely
You know the door is always open

At the BB cafe
Come to the BB cafe
They will help keep your blues at bay

Hey everybody!

The Cafe is a super caring place to chat prior to posting on the 'heavier threads'

I started posting in the  Beyond Blue Cafe 10 years ago as I was too anxious to post elsewhere. There may be a delay in getting a response yet there are many gentle people that can be here for you 🙂

my kindest always

Paul

Paul BB cafe is welcoming and suppportive.
I like watching tv shows on cooking?

Does anyone like cooking shows….?
Has anyone ever used a recipe from a tv show. I find many  tv recipes have too many ingredients.

Hi Paul and Quirky,

I used to love cooking shows. I used to watch Jamie Oliver and lots of others in the early 2000s. A favourite show of mine was Food Lovers Guide to Australia on SBS where they explored various food cultures in Australia, from the food growing to the preparation and cooking. I still remember the episode where a Japanese chef with a samurai sword ritually cut up a giant tuna fish in what was a cultural performance. I am so interested in that relationship between culture and food. One thing I do like about some of Jamie Oliver’s shows is the cooking is a bit simplified to make it more accessible. It’s kind of more intuitive and less precise too, so it will be like grabbing a bunch of herbs and saying to put in a handful, rather than giving precise measurements. He puts a big emphasis on enjoying cooking.

These days I haven’t watched cooking shows so much. I have developed some food restrictions and allergies which I find frustrating. Do you have any favourite cooking shows Quirky? I did watch a bit of Master Chef though sometimes I find it stressful seeing people under pressure. There was a show on the ABC called The Cook and the Chef that I liked because it was more about just really enjoying the whole process. I know I’ve got ideas from cooking shows but can’t remember a specific recipe I’ve done from watching one.

Hey Y'all,

Since you are all talking about food... what

is the weirdest food you have eaten? Did you like it? Or not? Why?

For me, it was jelly fish at a Japanese restaurant many years ago. I did not know what it was at the time. it was a teppanyaki place where the chef was cooking right in front of you. I tried it, and it was quite good. I cannot remember how it tasted exactly, but I would try it again
