The BB cafe is open for business!
Welcome all to a new chill and chat place for everyone on the forum.
The BB cafe is whatever you want it to be. There are comfy sofas, tables and chairs, coffee machines, a kitchen stocked with everything. There's a pool outside, a bbq area, an annexe with comfy beds for a quiet sleep, tv, dvd, books and whatever else you would like to have here.
Most of all, it's a place to meet friends and fellow travellers for a bit of company. Talk over problems, tell jokes, share your day, escape into a world of your making. Grab a coffee and pull up a chair ...
So, with a nod to the wonderful Carole King (Hard Rock Cafe) ...
Now if you're feeling just a little bit lonely
Don't sit at home just mopin'
Come on down to where the friendship flows freely
You know the door is always open
At the BB cafe
Come to the BB cafe
They will help keep your blues at bay
At the BB cafe

For partying, (trying not to think about this sort of food), I like the mini sausage rolls & pies, mini quiches, & garlic & chicken balls, potato gems as well (but no sauce), & little spring rolls done in an air fryer - wonder if all these things can be done in an air fryer?
Comfort food, (I'm trying not to go there either) I like pasta, cheesy things, real, home made chicken soup (if I could recall what my (ex-)step-mother used to put in it), Lasagne, with bachamel sauce, eggs benedict, & on rainy days, when the weather gets me down, it's tomato soup with pasta, ham & cheese lumps... oh, I've been trying so hard to not think of these things... woe, now I want some!
Now, I'm trying to think of how I view the healthier food choices I make especially when I am feeling in need of comfort, as my doing something to treat myself well, to care for myself, better, in the moments, when I usually would be wanting foods as I have mentioned here.
Hugzies to everyone,
mmMekitty
P.S. LRC wants fish pies, fish chowder, fish cakes, & anchovy popcorn.

Hello everyone,
My comfort foods are anything dairy, porridge, potatoes every which way (especially potato & leek soup), homemade tuna patties & roast pork with crackling, hot or cold. As well as lollies, chocolate, twisties & certain types of bickies, none of which count as food in my book, they are just empty calories. My favourite party food is definitely pinwheels, closely followed by the mini spring rolls.

Hello Everyone. 🤗..
Comfort foods I like to go to are,
Popcorn is my first go to then chocolate, melted cheese with tomato and lots of pepper and salt…hot chips, battered fish..oh I have so many..but the ones I listed are my favourites…oh yes and vanilla slices…yummy..
In summer I can eat healthier then in Winter because I’m a big fan of salads, with home made dressing of olive oil and lemon juice….
Another thing I do to comfort myself is to put on a movie I like to watch, snuggle up under my doona on the lounge and lay down to watch it…of course with a popcorn snack..
Its cold and raining here today, we have huge freight trains that pass not far from mine…they usually blow there whistle to the cars stopped at the level crossings..the train whistle is something I like, (I can hear it now as I’m typing this out) reminds me of the old steam trains we used to ride on as a child….before the electric trains made there appearance…
Enjoy your day everyone..
Hugs,
Grandy..

Oh Grandy, steam engines ….. definite favourite of mine.
the bells, the whistle, the steam as it rises above the engine especially on cold mornings.
About hour drive from where I live is seaside township in which there is historical steam trains which are run different days during the year. Such a magestic sight watching the trains slowly pull out of the station. Somewhere amongst my slides there are 2showing my dad and I standing on the front of a steam locomotive that was part of a playground somewhere. One frustrating think with my dad was he didn’t follow directions and we would end up places that we hadn’t planned on going to, I know have lots of slides of various different places and have no idea where the photos were taken.

Steam trains, yes! I'm sure I went on one, once, & the chugging noise, the whistle & the way windows could be opened, so we could feel the wind, hear the world outside the carriage - not like today's trains & buses I've ridden, (though I don't missing the smell of pollution).
Tonight, the smell of hot bread baking is so warm & comforting even before eating. [LRC purrs, breathing in the wrmth & comfort, then taking small bites, to savour it more]
Kind thoughts & warm feelings to everyone - yes, to new members & to those who are reading before making a decision about joining or not. My thoughts & feelings are with you, too.

Good Morning everyone……🤗…
I remember standing on a station platform waiting for the train to take me to my grandmothers…I always heard it before I seen it…also smelt it…when it arrived it was encased with a lot of smoke…it looked both scary and amazing at the same time…I would love to go on the Zig Zag Steam Train ride, what an adventure that would be…but it’s too far and I can’t do it on my own…
Its Sunday, the last day of rest for those working full time…I hope it’s a beautiful day where you are…my day here is very windy and blowing the icy coldness down from a mountain not that far away that snows….I do love the feel of that iciness on my face, it’s refreshing but not the bitter coldness that seems to go through many layers of clothing😂🥶…
I think a nice mild curry would go down very nicely tonight…I made some a couple of months ago, froze two meals, so I will be just zapping that tonight…ahhh the benefits of the microwave…so easy..
Before the microwave mum used to open the top of canned vegetables, baked beans and spaghetti, then used to put the opened can in a pot of water and boil them until they was hot…wow how times have changed…
I made heaps of scones, and brought them into the cafe…date scones, and sultana scones are my favourite…but there’s every variety that you can think of…so dig in and enjoy, with a hot beverage…
Enjoy your day today everyone….lots of hugs for everyone and sending you all my love and kind thoughts..
Grandy🤗🤗💙❤️🌈🚂🚂..

I'd like sultana scones, please, Grandy.
Thank you very much.
I especially like when a sultana or two poke out of the dogh, so they get more well-cooked than those inside.
I was listening to some music today, classical trios, while cooking, while reading here, & responding to some posts. It helped a lot, even when it was also distracting! Then I had to take a break for a hot shower. & before I knew it, it was time for dinner.
I made enough of my pasta, with meat, marinated a while in concentrated tomato soup& thick teriyaki sauce, fried onion & capsicum to share, & to keep some for tomorrow. I got distracted again, so the pasta is rather soft, but it all still tastes fine.
Yes, a late evening scone with sultanas is the perfect end to the day.

All this talk of curry and pasta and scones... I'm now hungry. And I just ate dinner!
I'll take a date scone, please. Yum. I'll supply the jam and cream, let's sit around the fire and tell stories. The weather over here has been terrible and cold, so a nice warm fire is just what I need right now.
Is anybody reading anything good lately? I'm getting back into reading, and I could do with a few recommendations, if anybody has any good ones. I read the Silent Patient a while back, which was really good. I've recently started watching the Summer I Turned Pretty on Amazon Prime too, which was one of the best books I ever read as a teen.

Pasta with grated Parmesan cheese …. Yum!! N
I’ll have a date scone please. They all smell so nice.
thanks for cream Sbella from Luna and SB who are both licking the last of it off each others face.
Sorry, can’t help with any recently read books. I used to look for books via Kindle that were free, mainly mystery based. Highly recommend the latest Indiana Jones to anyone thinking about watching it either in cinema or when gets released on dvd.
Grandy, I’m similar as you with ZigZag Railway. Would be great to travel over those stretches of track and admire the work done but I know I won’t ever get there. I’ve thought about doing ferry trip to Tasmania especially to see some of the waterfalls. Only way I’m going to get there would be part of group tour and not sure that will happen. My late husband and I had talked about doing cruise to and around New Zealand. Thought of doing cruise on my own plus having my cats in cattery for approx 2weeks, neither are appealing.
I’d much rather go for drive to one of the seaside towns nearby, find somewhere nice to sit and look out onto the bay, the tide rolling in and out, boats of various sizes coming in and going out.
