The BB cafe is open for business!
Welcome all to a new chill and chat place for everyone on the forum.

The BB cafe is whatever you want it to be. There are comfy sofas, tables and chairs, coffee machines, a kitchen stocked with everything. There's a pool outside, a bbq area, an annexe with comfy beds for a quiet sleep, tv, dvd, books and whatever else you would like to have here.

Most of all, it's a place to meet friends and fellow travellers for a bit of company. Talk over problems, tell jokes, share your day, escape into a world of your making. Grab a coffee and pull up a chair ...

So, with a nod to the wonderful Carole King (Hard Rock Cafe) ...

Now if you're feeling just a little bit lonely
Don't sit at home just mopin'
Come on down to where the friendship flows freely
You know the door is always open

At the BB cafe
Come to the BB cafe
They will help keep your blues at bay

It all sounds so wonderful, EM.

What is it about putting a young fellow into a suit that makes him so adorable?!  It's a mystery to me, LOL! I can imagine a set of boys all dressed up, standing at a slightly turned angle to the camera.

Precious Mum, you had. I think much of her has rubbed off on you.

Having short hair means it takes less shampoo to wash, & is drier quicker, easier to brush & comb, & if you decide, you can grow it again. I think about cutting mine off, because it can be so annoying, getting into what I'm doing, into my face, eyes, & mouth, pulling on it when turning in bed, ... lots of annoying things, My hair is so thin, if I cut it short, I'm not sure anyone would notice I had hair at all. 😸I wouldn't be a fluffy cat... oweeow...my tail would be like a green twig...

I hope the wedding is all happy tears & smiles. Best wishes to the couple. May they always listen to each other.

Hey everyone reading along in the BB Cafe, new posters always welcome!

Pop in and have a chat about whatever light hearted topics you like.

Hello Kitty! Hahaha, get it? I only just did.

I'm excited to see them in formal suits because I haven't seen them dressed in suits since they were all 5yo in a Wedding party back then.

Such beautiful advice for the young couple.
I was worried they were marrying so young, but they've been together almost 10y already!
Now have a beautiful baby girl.

They moved to a few houses away, so we see them more than we were. I bake for them sometimes, she's still breastfeeding so needs all the support they can get.
I'm happy for them.

OH I read something I wanted to share, an emotion we may know of but don't have a word to describe it in the English language... Freudenfraude (froy-den-frow-da) apparently defined as the joy and happiness we derive from others' happy events. It's a subset of empathy.
You have freudenfraude Kitty.

Thankyou for sharing our joy.

Yep go the short hair! It got so annoying trying to turn over in bed at night, getting stuck behind me in chairs etc... grrr lol. It became a management issue lol. Gone now, happy days.

We're up to 1979 folks woohoo!! Creeping along last century hahaha.. almost there,

Hi EM & all,

No, I hadn't noticed 'Hello Kitty' before you mention it now - I remember I'd bought a body spray, a scent, which turned out to be 'bubble gum' & 'Hello Kitty' - I was surprised. There were other scents, too, which I also liked. But I can't get them anymore. They were more 'girly' than I had ever thought I'd like. Just shows you never know!

LOL EM, 1979 - I hope I've left home already! There was a lull when things didn't seem so bad that year.

As for freudenfreude, that's great.

However, I admit, I also have a certain amount of schadenfreude, too. Not extreme, I don't think, at least no more than most of us. Like everything, most of us have some tendency, & it's not one or the other, but a mix, situation & circumstances, our own state of mind at the time.

Most comedy is based on the fact we humans can enjoy our own sense of schadenfreude, within the boundaries of being invited to share with the comedian & audience, during a certain time & place, (if at a venue).

I think freudenfreude is best noticed when someone gives us good news & we feel the immediate sense of sharing their happiness. I think people get it from rom-coms too.

We may feel schadenfreude when watching sit-coms, at first, but when everything comes together, & everyone is happy, then we get to feel the freudenfreude.

Wonder if there are words for other state, like sharing the tension & release found in thrillers, & even watching people riding those thrill rides at the Royal Show, & such?

Hehe, do you know 'motherspeak'? You will know as soon as you start to talk to a baby, how your voice rises in pitch & you use words like, 'who's a pretty bubby, then?'

I'm not sure, but I think 'motherspeak is the only spontaneously learned language (I'm not sure 'learned' is the right word) any one of us could discover during our lives. I think there are very few people who do not instantly speak motherspeak when talking to babies, or even to pets! I know, to some extent, I spoke motherspeak to Mekitty, especially when she was a kitten. It was so natural - I likely spoke more than I realised.

I know some people decide, & have to be conscious when talking to young people, NOT to motherspeak to them; it's an effort NOT to motherspeak!

I've had a pasta salad, with my meat on the side, because the liquid I had it cooking in was so yummy, I left it in there!

Anyone and everyone is welcome to join in on the discussion whether you speak German or not :-))

Ahem, schadenfraude, probably not so much me. I'm often the one in the room gasping or shrieking when someone's tried to show me a "funny" video clip of stupid people having stupid accidents in their back yards or such. The extreme of such is pure evil... I think that's the use of the word... well the definition in Brene's book anyhow.

All good.

Sure Kitty! I mother or baby talk to my PLANTS and chickens and pets. Definitely babies.
Apparently human babies respond happier to the gentler, higher tones of voice. Their instincts are spot on at a young age, if nurtured well of course.

Strangely, this is stuff our VET of all people discussed with me yesterday. He must've picked up on "stuff" going on with me, so gently opened up about his life a bit and asked me gentle questions.
Intuitive vet! hahaha.

I made a Chinese Noodle salad without the noodles tonight lol. Just nuts, wombok and dressing.
LOVE that dressing!

ALL the Wedding party looked GRAND today. So spruced up!
So funny as the BeReal app pinged straight after the Nuptials so everyone got their phones out to take pictures to upload, including ME hahaha.

Have a beautiful calm night everyone,
love EM

Buttermilk SCONES with jam and cream on the menu for brekky this morning!

Who wants some lol.

My oven is pre-heating, mixture ready to knead and cut into circles.
I like to put each scone dough ball next to each other to bake, so they're SOFT on all sides.
Rolling each one in flour before placing them on the baking try helps when taking each one to EAT.
I use the leftover buttermilk to paint on the top of each scone so they turn a nice golden colour.

Not quite the CWA approach! hahaha... I prefer a different recipe but we're all good right?

We had SO MUCH RAIN last night! Far too many buckets required for the leaking roof last night ugh..
This morning it's bright and crispy freezing cold.
Much colder this morning than last night.

What's everyone up to today? I'm back to work tomorrow, my Leave is over sadly lol. So I'll be around a lot less but will be thinking of you all,
Love EMxxxx

Buttermilk scones with jam & cream sounds so very yum... I've not used buttermilk before... I always made scones the old fashioned way until our lovely Grandy put me onto using cream & lemonade... much quicker to make & still very yum.... This being the bb cafe I love that I can still have them just baked & still warm even though it's nearer bedtime than breakfast...

I think I will pull up a big comfy armchair near the fire (it is a bit chilly tonight) in the cafe's garden & happily munch on my scones whilst I watch the night time wildlife... everyone is welcome to join me

It is a little bit chilly tonight, I'll join you by the fire Paw Prints.

I'll also take one of those buttermilk scones please (delicious), and I'll treat myself to a lovely lactose-free chai latté. I've really been loving those lately, anyone want one?

Can a little wild 🐅tiger kitty come snuggle up near the fire? 🐯& may I have some buttermilk, 🥛just the buttermilk will be quite alright on a cool/chilly night. I'm too tired of pretending to be lots of different wildlife. Playing at being a 🦇 was the hardest thing. but I had to get in some practice ...  😼

Awww Paws, thankyou for making that Fire in the Cafe to gather round. It's still cold tonight too, so I'm getting close to the fire with you all lol.
All pets and wildlife are welcome ALL the time in the Cafe hahaha.. cute.

LOVE the idea of lemonade and cream... instead of buttermilk.
Perhaps I'm too old to change my recipes lol, it's taken me a lifetime to find my faves and the ones my family will EAT.
Although I DID try adding a can of cream of mushroom soup to a Boscaiola instead of the usual and it worked so well that I might use this more often.
I always keep canned mushies in the pantry for pies, so it's not a stretch.

Always keep buttermilk in the fridge for pancakes or scones. Scones are FAR more messy to make.
I needed a nap after that lol!

I took our Return and Earn containers to the place, for recycling, after work today.
Got almost $30 which was amazing!
When I got home I saw MORE in bags in the garage ahhhh... no rest for the holy hahaha... that's because I'm not wicked.

Still wearing lots of Winter clothing, so surprised the weather is so cold.
I'll complain about the heat soon so I'm lapping it up!

Hi all!! lil quirky is back at it :))

You might have seen me around a little while before this, and I thought this is a great way to get back into it again, If you don't mind saving me one of those scones for around the fire, not a big fan of coffee, might bring some tea or hot choccy if anyone else wants some!

I have know idea what buttermilk is so I will definately give those scones a try, but please do inform me of this buttermilk.

I haven't gotten into the BeReal app yet, and I don't think I will, thoughts on it?

I'm not sure if you guys know this, you might, but apparently the rain is going to be really bad tomorrow, my school is finishing early because of it, their probably scared because last timed it rained (friday) some roofs caved in and like me I couldn't access my locker because of flooding haha.

Greatful and glad to be back at it again 🙂 let the heat warm me up please!! :)))

P.S. I'll bring some supplys for smores if the fire is outside... is it?
