The BB cafe is open for business!
Welcome all to a new chill and chat place for everyone on the forum.
The BB cafe is whatever you want it to be. There are comfy sofas, tables and chairs, coffee machines, a kitchen stocked with everything. There's a pool outside, a bbq area, an annexe with comfy beds for a quiet sleep, tv, dvd, books and whatever else you would like to have here.
Most of all, it's a place to meet friends and fellow travellers for a bit of company. Talk over problems, tell jokes, share your day, escape into a world of your making. Grab a coffee and pull up a chair ...
So, with a nod to the wonderful Carole King (Hard Rock Cafe) ...
Now if you're feeling just a little bit lonely
Don't sit at home just mopin'
Come on down to where the friendship flows freely
You know the door is always open
At the BB cafe
Come to the BB cafe
They will help keep your blues at bay
At the BB cafe

Hi mmMeKitty, SB and I (Luna, think I should be LG) are 3 year olds. SB is heaps bigger than me and is scared to jump onto tall things or climb the nice lacey curtain Patches has on the windows. I’m only a little girl and I love to be up high. I’m very territorial and get very upset when another cat comes into Patches backyard. I snarl and growl through the glass before I climb the lacey curtains almost to the top. Need to show that intruder it’s my home and that’s it’s not welcome
Patches tells me I won’t have to worry at our new home as the rules say everyone has to keep their cats indoors or in a cat run. Patches says our lounge room will be smaller than now but that there will be lots of glass to watch the birds through. SB and I will have our room which will be beside Patches room. We will be able to lay with her during the night and keep her safe, same as we do now.
mmMeKitty, thanks for offer for the herbs. I’ve seen where local place sells different sized decorative pots that contain variety of succulents. Each time I look at it I will be reminded of you.

I tried growing a few succulents, maybe 20 years ago. I'd taken pictures of them, after wetting them with several drops of water, as if there had been a brief shower of rain. I like the precise form of them.
I think it was because I didn't socialise Mekitty much that had her being snarly whenever another animal was near her window, & on the day walking with her in her crate to go to the vet & a local cat came by. If I'd let her out I think she would have had a go at him.
I don't think 3 years old is too old to play. LRC stridently agrees, batting at a toy spider dangling from a fake web from BB Cafe's ceiling.

Hi mmMeKitty, even when they were only few months old my 2 have hardly been interested in toys. I bought different styles and sizes of toy balls plus toy mice which have always only been played with occasionally.
not long after I adopted them I started working from home due to Covid. They loved laying together near me or on table where I was working.
they enough playing together at times and can be very rough.
Chasing each other up and down the passage is favourite activity, especially when door from passage into garage is open

Hello Everyone….🤗..
Ive been enjoying reading about your fur babies antics….I don’t know much about cats, but my fur girls are 10, 8 and 2years old and still play each night just before dinner…it’s really beautiful to watch….
Its not my curtains my dogs seems to play with…it’s my lounge cushions…many times I came home to a fake snow covering my lounges and lounge room floors….now I put them away if I have to leave them inside for more then 15 minutes alone 😂😂😂😂😂..
I admire that you can make your own drapes, Patches…well done🦋..
Its a very sunny day here today, looks so beautiful and warm…very deceiving really…the wind is icy 🥶…
I hope you all enjoy your day today, no matter if it’s hot, cold, windy or rainy..
Hugs everyone…..🤗

Hello Patches, Grandy & everyone
One of Mekitty's most favourite things was chasing a crumpled paper bag I'd tied to a string & bounced along the floor or through the air over a low obstacle. That toy didn't cost me more than the string from the roll I'd bought a few years before. .
The other favourite, & most expensive thing I bought for her was her tunnel. We had a lot of fun with that. She would run through it when I chucked a piece of her dry food through to the other end. Or sometimes I'd dangle the paper bag into the hole in the middle, while she was in there, & she'd reach her paw out to catch the paper bag & drag it inside.
& sometimes she would have a go at my fingers, too. I had to watch for when she was getting too excited, though... ow, those little claws can hurt! I didn't want her thinking playing so rough was acceptable. I don't know that I ever convinced her it was better to play more gently for longer, or to get rough & play in short, intense, bursts.
She also liked a little purple octopus, which had metallic purple threads in the yarn, also tied to an elastic cord, for bouncing.
Really her kittenish playing seemed to decrease all too soon, after about a year. As she got bigger she could no longer walk let alone run through the tunnel. Later still, she could barely fit herself in there!
It was a good day here, fairly relaxed & reasonably quiet.
I'd like to offer some pastries. I used small squares of puff pastry, oiling one side, & the edges of the upper side, put onto baking paper, on a oven tray. Then I topped, with small chicken pieces, broccoli, also chopped into small pieces, & all topped with cheese. That does into the oven to cook. Some cheese may melt & drip onto the baking paper, so check for that & see if you can lift it & press it up onto the pastry again or you could end up with your melted bits being too burnt on the baking paper for your taste.
Hope you enjoy them.
& to watch what I have for dinner, I decided no more cheese today. My salad was very good anyway.

mmMeKitty and Grande, I’ve been thinking traditional toys … I forgot about the other things they play with. Thanks mmMeKitty for mentioning the paper bag.
Fabric and insulated shopping bags bought at supermarkets, bits of paper, pens, lids of bottles, cardboard boxes, clothes pegs. Both also enjoy the floor rug in the lounge room, nudging and hooking at the corners until they can get their head under the corner.
I have been taught well by these 2. By 7:30pm if I’m not settled on the couch with blanket on my knees I get glared at or Luna will sit on the arm of the couch and gently paw at my arm.

Patches, they are so adorable!
You make me think, if I ever do get into a more suitable place, about getting another cat, or two, if I also have support to look after them properly.
I met a lovely dog today. I went to a park & there is a cafe there. someone ahead of me & my support worker had a dog. I can't see what type, so I can only say it was pale, mostly white, I think. It was standing so calmly next to their owner, with lots of other people around, noise & such, but I felt comfortable to reach out my hand (palm down) & let the dog sniff to say 'hello'. I was gently licked on the back of my hand, & a little furtive lick under towards my palm. Maybe the dog thought I might have a treat? & that done, the dog went back to standing, as if to attention. Such a well-behaved dog, LRC didn't know what to do!
There were some cheeky ibis birds around. My support worker is a little anxious about bigger birds like these. One hopped up onto a table near by, stealing chips. Then there was a squabble between another two.
We left the area at that time.
We walked around this big inner-city park, looking at what was on offer to see. Unfortunately, we were disappointed. No ducks, in particular. & the sun hid when I most wanted a photo or two. There were some interesting trees, but the way things were bordered off meant I could not go investigate very much at all.
I particularly like the banyan trees they have. They look like they have been there for a hundred years. I love how the trunk split a metre or so from the ground into several branches which were actually roots growing above ground. As a group, they look so impressive.
& i got some exercise, going up some sets of stairs & hills, along the 'path to knowledge', which I think must have been a joke, because I only learned the stairs & hills only led me nowhere, & to exhaustion. Then we had to go down, via another set of stairs & one hill - thank goodness that was all, where we arrived back at the cafe.
Turned into a nice day, with the sun shining more when we left the park.
I hope everyone else has had a lovely day, too.

Really enjoying reading everyone's pet stories!! I have two cats of my own, and they're the cutest things ever.
mmMekitty, I'll take some of those pastries, especially the ones with cheese. Yum!
It's been a stellar of a day here, lots of sun and not too many clouds. I sat outside to have my lunch today.
I'd like to bring bread rolls and an array of different fillings to our BB Cafe today. What sauces would everyone like? What kind of filling? I'll be having lettuce, tomato, cheese, mayo, perhaps some ham.

Hi SB. When I make my pastries I put cheese on all of them. If anyone doesn't want cheese, they can remove it & give it back to me. No worries. I am always happy to have more cheese for myself.
I am glad you had a lovely lunch sitting outside today.
