The BB cafe is open for business!
Welcome all to a new chill and chat place for everyone on the forum.
The BB cafe is whatever you want it to be. There are comfy sofas, tables and chairs, coffee machines, a kitchen stocked with everything. There's a pool outside, a bbq area, an annexe with comfy beds for a quiet sleep, tv, dvd, books and whatever else you would like to have here.
Most of all, it's a place to meet friends and fellow travellers for a bit of company. Talk over problems, tell jokes, share your day, escape into a world of your making. Grab a coffee and pull up a chair ...
So, with a nod to the wonderful Carole King (Hard Rock Cafe) ...
Now if you're feeling just a little bit lonely
Don't sit at home just mopin'
Come on down to where the friendship flows freely
You know the door is always open
At the BB cafe
Come to the BB cafe
They will help keep your blues at bay
At the BB cafe

Hello Moon,
I did ponder why eating I found eating out alone ok overseas, but uncomfortable here. I finally decided that it probably mostly had to do with worrying about being judged by people who might know me. That and from growing up in a time where things like pubs having a ladies lounge, women needing to have a male guarantor to get a loan & an general attitude that women who did such things were likely not "respectable". The attitudes we encounter growing up & as young adults can be insidious even if we don't agree with them.

Thank you Moon, Patches, Paws & Woofa
A clue, eh? Other than I actually have said how old somewhere her on BB very recently, but (hehehehe) I can't remember whre .... so a clue, mmmm, think of a chess or drafts board? Or more big & obvious ... A certain song by The Beatles ...
& Paws, when I first came to Australia, it was still the norm for a wife to wait in the car, perhaps with the kids, too, while her husband went into the pub for a few drinks before going home. Worse yet, he was most likely the one who drove. My parents were taken aback by what was still expected, acceptable behaviour in the community. As well as having an outhouse, for about year, I think it was.
Lasagne & fancy donuts with cherries in cherry syrup jelly for everyone!

Yes, (thanks Paul), welcome everyone!
It's a lovely day here, & now I'm a bit older, maybe I'll slow down ... or maybe not ... since zoomies are so much fun while flying my kite, tied to my purrty kitty tail...

Hello everyone,
Well spring is clearly not far away. I have a bird bath I can see through my lounge window & next to it I leave a patch that I don't mow or weed for the wildlife. I can sit much closer to them by being on the other side of the glass than I could be if I were outside. Along with other birds my resident little flock of fairy wrens love using both the bath & the little wild area. I enjoy sitting with a cuppa & watching them chasing & catching bugs or splashing about in the bath.
Well today they did their usual bug chasing, then later in the day I spent a lovely 1/2 hour or so watching two of them picking materials for their nest. They do put a lot of effort into selecting bits that are 'just right'. I found it fascinating watching them testing out each thing they chose, from how bendy a dry piece of grass was to sampling various heads on the dead thistle to pick the preferred fluffiness required. Even some of the cobwebs on my windows were raided for the webs rather than pinching trapped bugs as they do when feeding. These two are an existing pair from last year I think as the males haven't yet got their lovely blue feathers that come through in spring for wooing a new mate. I have a number of shrubs that usually have wren nests so I'm looking forward to watching more material hunting by them all & seeing if their will be more little families moving in.

That is indeed fascinating, Paws. I bet I (LRC) could sit very still & quiet watching & watching, waiting for the perfect moment to pounce! Just as well I'm not there, eh?

Me, mmMekitty, would never do such a thing.... no, I wouldn't.

Last couple of days the weather has been lovely. I have large tall window plus similar size sliding door on my back wall which is north facing. Material I ordered to continue making drapes for my new home arrived last week. Last couple of days have been mix of pinning and seeing the drapes prior to giving into the pleadings of my 2 cats for afternoon cuddles.
this morning time got away from me. After doing some online research phoned local store and spoke to staff member about best item to use for medium to heavy weight drapes on 3metre wide triple sliding door. Another few days and drapes will all be finished. Couple more weeks and I start, finally, moving packing boxes etc from my garage to storage unit at nearby facility. I’m excited about the village I’m moving into, starting to feel bit sad about moving from my home and starting to make new life for myself

Oh, wow, Patches, that's a lot of drapery for little kitties to climb up!
I hope yours are past that age.
When I first had Mekitty, I put in the cheapest curtains, knowing full well she would be climbing them, & she did. Even as a tiny kitten she got almost 3/4ths the way to the top before I realised.
Later I could put up some nice curtains without the worry.
You will always have memories of your previous home. Before too long, I'm sure you will be thinking of this new home as your Home. It sounds so so good.
I'd love a north facing window like what you describe. I am thinking of the sun you'll have in the morning next winter. I'm sure it will be lovely.
If I could give you a house warming prezzie, I'd give you some herbs in pots to place in the sun out there.
