The BB cafe is open for business!
Welcome all to a new chill and chat place for everyone on the forum.

The BB cafe is whatever you want it to be. There are comfy sofas, tables and chairs, coffee machines, a kitchen stocked with everything. There's a pool outside, a bbq area, an annexe with comfy beds for a quiet sleep, tv, dvd, books and whatever else you would like to have here.

Most of all, it's a place to meet friends and fellow travellers for a bit of company. Talk over problems, tell jokes, share your day, escape into a world of your making. Grab a coffee and pull up a chair ...

So, with a nod to the wonderful Carole King (Hard Rock Cafe) ...

Now if you're feeling just a little bit lonely
Don't sit at home just mopin'
Come on down to where the friendship flows freely
You know the door is always open

At the BB cafe
Come to the BB cafe
They will help keep your blues at bay

Yes, SB, I'm sure there is vegetarian varieties of sushi, so please, join us - but please forgive me is i have my earphones in while the game is on & the music is being performed. It's just too much noise to me.

I've decided, (some day or other) this week week, I'm really going with my brand new support worker to a coast not too far away, for lunch. Whle the place I'm going to doesn't have sushi, it does have other yummy food, which for this week, I am going to enjoy without thinking it's food I ought to avoid - no, no berating myself for the one day when I choose to have a somewhat unhealthy yummy lunch. Then we'll spend some time on the beach, too, which I haven't done for a very long time. The weather promises to be great, sunny (well, that's really glary), & warm.

Hugzies & hi Paul & Dools, as well.

Hey Dools....I am getting closer and closer to doing it...my mouth is watering.  I am so unaccustomed to "doing things just for myself, with myself". I like my company so why shouldn't I do this?  I will....it's not pointless and a waste of time...unproductive, lazy is it?   If I do this by myself.....I can see and taste the sushi now....Moon S

That's great Mme Kitty.....a station in the sand....brilliant!  I am getting closer and closer to this sushi idea of mine...I am not used to enjoying myself, by myself...but I deserve to don't I?  Nice if we could bring our cats...mine looks very similar to yours ...isn't that a coincidence?    Sushi...here I come!!!  ( you have all made me hungry now) x

Sushi, no way Patches, you have to be joking, as SB and Luna give me a disgusted look. I’m not a sushi person either. SB and Luna, we can share some grilled butterfish and I will have couple of potato cakes.  That’s if Moonstruck and mmMeKitty don’t mind the 3 of us joining them.

Moonstruck, I also enjoy my own company.  I find I spend more money on and do more things for my cats than I do myself.  As part of trying to help myself work through panic attacks when near trucks I have started going to local community markets and try to treat myself with something, even if is something small.

Yesterday was a lovely Sunny morning, perfect for drive. Looking online I found a store which combination opshop plus local makers market, about 90mins one way drive which is longest drive I’ve done in long time.  Once on the road, music playing and in the countryside I found myself enjoying the drive.  Bought myself some treats including some yo-yo cookies …. Yum!!
Next step is waiting until after I move house to see if I have spot for antique mantel clock that they have, reminds me of the clock my Nana had in the kitchen

yoyo cookies on the bench to enjoy for everyone

Hello Everyone,

Paul - I don't watch the Grand Final or the entertainment they have, but I do wonder why they seem to insist on having bands/singers that were big 30 or more years ago. Surely there are more modern options available to them. I would have thought the furore over how bad Meatloaf was might have pushed them towards someone more up to date.

Moon - I never used to go out to eat alone until the penny dropped that as I did it when I travelled alone overseas without any thought, why not do it here too. Though I do find it easier doing lunch rather than dinner.

I will pass on the sushi too... though I might try the butterfish if there is any to spare, I haven't had that before.

Hugs

Hello everyone

I used to have some problems when I wanted to stop for lunch at a cafe & feeling very self-conscious about it, especially going in alone & eating by myself.

It irked me that tables all have at least two chairs, like it is expected no-one eats alone. Then my eyesight was deteriorating & I realised I couldn't see if anyone was making faces at me anyway, (though, quite reasonably, I don't think all but a very few people thinking nothing better than to smirk at people, were going to be noticing me all that much), so then, I thought, what do their opinions matter to me anyway. & besides, I have paid for my food so I am jolly well going to eat it, in any way I find most efficient, given my eyesight, which I can do nothing about.

It' wasn't easy to do. At first I might have a coffee & raisin toast. A few successful snacks at cafes I liked, & I became bolder. Now I could have a whole meal... making asome mess while I eat, true, but really, I don't do so badly if I choose meals which are not likely to be sloppy.

Who knows? One day I may allow myself a sloppy meal & get some down my shirt & use a napkin to get most of it off & go on eating like it's all okay with me, so what are you looking at? (I'm sthinking) Mind your own business. That's what I aim for.

So let me at some of that butterfish too!

Moon, are you able to sit & close your eyes, then imagine you are outside your favourite sushi train store, & imagine, step by ste, what you will do when entering the store, if you have to wait, making your selection (you can buy as many or as few as you like in your imagination), then telling the person what you want & paying for them & taking your order out of the store? Then you can continue to imagine going to where you will enjoy eating them? I mean, try to feel the good about your accomplishment.

We can do this, Moon. If you like, make up an image of me in your mind to accompany you. Please give me red hair & cute claws, & a purple collar around whatever I'm wearing.

Hello Paw Prints...I don't know what butterfish is but would like to try it.  I love all kinds of seafood..yes of course lunch would be easier.  I've eaten alone, but only when in some other place...not my hometown. Why do you think that is?.....MoonS    x

Hi Moonstruck, butterfish is similar to cod apparently due to it being a white meat fish. I find butterfish very light and delicate flesh, very pleasant on taste buds and with very little chance of any bones. Also are good source of vitamin b12, b3 and b5.

Hmm that Butterfish sounds good.

Moon, I might think if you were to have lunch out alone near where you live, you might think someone you know, or people might recognise you, either that day or on subsequent days, when they see you again ???

Maybe your first solo sushi train visit can take place somewhere not so close to where you live? Can you imagine that?

I've made some cherry jelly, with cherries in it for anyone who would like. You can have lightly whipped cream &/or ice cream &/or custard with it, too. My birthday week gift to all of you at the BB Cafe.
