The BB cafe is open for business!
Welcome all to a new chill and chat place for everyone on the forum.
The BB cafe is whatever you want it to be. There are comfy sofas, tables and chairs, coffee machines, a kitchen stocked with everything. There's a pool outside, a bbq area, an annexe with comfy beds for a quiet sleep, tv, dvd, books and whatever else you would like to have here.
Most of all, it's a place to meet friends and fellow travellers for a bit of company. Talk over problems, tell jokes, share your day, escape into a world of your making. Grab a coffee and pull up a chair ...
So, with a nod to the wonderful Carole King (Hard Rock Cafe) ...
Now if you're feeling just a little bit lonely
Don't sit at home just mopin'
Come on down to where the friendship flows freely
You know the door is always open
At the BB cafe
Come to the BB cafe
They will help keep your blues at bay
At the BB cafe

Energetic ain't it, & you need to be more agile than you do for the Chicken Dance!
I think the good times with friends & family are surely worth more than the expensive gifts or trips.
Tonight, I decided to have some mini gnocchi with some carrot, capsicum & cucumber on the side, taking up half the plate. Quite quick to took, & not much washing up.
I hadn't really gotten into tea, or the herbal teas either. The one thing I like about tea is how it doesn't leave a scummy feel to my tongue like coffee does.
I think I'll stick to water, cool, clear water.... (LRC begins to softly & slowly sing, "cool, clear water; water ..."]
Someone says, "You can't'Kitt'nish Stomp to that, can you?"
[LRC swishes tail, "just watch me. I can dance slow-mo."]
With pride, mmMekitty sits back to watch LRC showing off.

Hello everyone,
SB I would love some English Breakfast tea... I find tea more refreshing than coffee... but I do like homemade iced milk coffee too (no sweetener)...
LRC your dance sounds fun... I will pass though... given I managed to break my foot by tripping over nothing while walking in my house a couple of years back... I think bouncing from paw to paw might not be wise for me... I will keep the dance music going in the jukebox... how about stomping to "These boots are made for walking" to start...
Hugs
Paws

Hey Paws, that's a fun song, & so is the Proclaimers' "& I would walk five hundred miles, & I would walk five hundred more...", only it sounds so much like stomping I can't help but stomp. & I'll hunch my shoulders & arch my back up high, & give myself a severe bout of goosebumps to make all my hair stand on end, so I will look very big, like a tiger ... "Roar!"

Hi everyone [LRC looks around to see friendlyBB member's' faces]
It's hotting up around here, & some other places around the country. Try to keep cool, drink plenty of water, stay in the shade when outdoors.
I was happy to have another swim at my support worker's pool, where her hubby put up some sun sails over part of the pool. It's so lovely being in the water, I wish I could go there everyday while it's so hot.
At least here, I can swim to my heart's content, knowing I can't get sunburned or bitten by piranha. Aaah, "lazing on a sunny afternoon ..." well, I know it is technically not Summer in March, but it sure is feeling like it is Summer anyway.
So, summer salads, mixed veg salads, & fruit salads, with separate dressings to choose from, all in the fridge,
Hugzies

Hello everyone,
Oh, I would love to take a cold bowl of fruit salad to cool off, it’s so hot here, What happened to the beautiful cool Autumn weather?….
I have started buying the “Meals on wheels” dinners, they are really yummy and balanced out into correct serving sizes…hmmm when I do cook I realise now that I would put too much on my plate….smaller sizes are what I’m aiming for now, when I cook….and vegetables with every meal…..we never stop learning do we?
As much as I would love to join you in dancing, I’ll pass until I get my shoulders/arms and back, back into some kind of normalcy…I do love listening to both songs…”These boots are made for walking” and “I’ll walk 5 thousand miles”…. and did so on you tube….
A swim in a pool sounds so refreshing…I also hope that you can have some more swims when the weather is hot….
Hoping everyone has a nice day today,
Grandy..

HI Grandy & everyone
Today I had another cool shower, & am having salads, too, & I am remembering to drink plenty of cool water. I am trying to make my own meals smaller too - I'm very aware I have made my meals too large on too many occasions. I feel it after, for sure. So another thng, is to slow down when I am eating, so I will begin to feel I've had enough, maybe even while I am not finished what is in my salad bowl. The rest can keep for later. At least this is the plan.
I am tempted to ask my support worker, tomorrow, when we go for my exercise programmes, if we can also go to her poo. Not the one I have been to, with my Thursday support worker, but another. She has said we could do that, so tomorrow - that would be so great.
What other songs would you like, Grandy? How about we sing some together? Don't tell me you can't sing - 'cause it doesn't matter a fig. Aw, okay, you can have a fig too ... Can I take the low harmony? My own voice struggles with the demands I put it to, so let's see what we can do together.
How about "Sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy ..."

Oh, having the Meals on Wheels meals sounds great, Grandy. I may get into that myself, one day. I've wondered how flexible they are when it comes to someone who is really fussy about their food.
& Yes! I got to go for another swim yesterday! The surrounds were somewhat more challenging, but we managed that. The pool was a little larger & deeper in parts, & well shaded after an hour, by some trees & other plants growing thickly nearby.
I took some potato salad I'd made & I also remembered to freeze some water in my water bottle, so my soda water would be cool even after two - three hours. That worked fine.
I hadn't realise Sporting Wheelies would not be open after noon on Saturday, so that's wen I asked my support worker about going to the pool where she lives. I feel so lucky to have found two support workers with pools I can use. It's not the same as a work-out using gym equipment, but sure feels wonderful moving about in the water.
hugzies everyone,

Ooh, we definitely have a pool at the BB café. And a spa. And some work-out equipment too, maybe a few yoga mats.
mmMekitty, has the weather been good for swimming? Our weather is pretty hit or miss here, so we've only had a few days in the last month that have been good for it.

Yeah, SB, definitely warm enough, humid enough, too. I've sometimes had two showers in a day just to cool off, at least one tomorrow, maybe just after lunch, I supect. If I'm feeling too hot to sleep, I'll have another shortly before bed.
It is cooler in my bedroom, & feels okay out there now, so tonight I think I'll be alright to sleep.
& I don't live in the places which are hotter for longer than either.
I wonder if it's because I'm getting older, when I think I can't stand the hot weather as well as I did maybe five years ago. Maybe it's not my imagination.
Heated pool for winter, cool pool for summer, that'd be perfect. I enjoy how the sun warms up the water in a shallow pool. I don't need it to be more than, hmm, 1.5 metres, so I can touch the bottom with my feet. I can't dive anyway, so that's okay if it's not deep. & icluding floaty things, lights for when it gets dark, too. In winter, we would like to close the roof, with a clear dome & get the air warmer without needing too much power.
What a daydream!

mmMekitty,
I feel that - my room has been either super hot or super cold recently. Heated pool in winter and cool pool in summer sounds great too.
What are some snacks we can have around the pool? Perhaps a refreshing milkshake, anyone?
