The BB cafe is open for business!
Welcome all to a new chill and chat place for everyone on the forum.
The BB cafe is whatever you want it to be. There are comfy sofas, tables and chairs, coffee machines, a kitchen stocked with everything. There's a pool outside, a bbq area, an annexe with comfy beds for a quiet sleep, tv, dvd, books and whatever else you would like to have here.
Most of all, it's a place to meet friends and fellow travellers for a bit of company. Talk over problems, tell jokes, share your day, escape into a world of your making. Grab a coffee and pull up a chair ...
So, with a nod to the wonderful Carole King (Hard Rock Cafe) ...
Now if you're feeling just a little bit lonely
Don't sit at home just mopin'
Come on down to where the friendship flows freely
You know the door is always open
At the BB cafe
Come to the BB cafe
They will help keep your blues at bay
At the BB cafe

Once upon a time, I used to scoff, but now I proudly declare I like a basic BBQ Sausage Sizzle!
Yay Futsal Players!!
Sometimes I think it would be a very good idea to have small community type gardens, or simply have fruit & veg grown in the common areas of the kinds of state housing which could support it, & then I think how difficult it would be to get any but a few even interested, & then to not have disputes over every aspect from planting to divvying up the harvest.
I would like it, only I'm not sure I could contribute much now.
When I tried growing a few things the results were not encouraging. Then it was expensive capsicum I wanted most. & later I would have loved to have a mandarin tree, one that grew the large loose-skinned variety. I had one the size of my little fingernail... then someone stole my tree.
the soil in all the gardens around here needs a lot of work before anything could be grown, with people's rubbish for mulch, I fear.

Good Morning Cafe friends,
It was lovely catching up on your posts this morning.
It's finally here! The last day of our winter and a glorious sunny morning it is.
I did get a little more active over the weekend. Planted a few new things and re-planted some old things in the garden. I have a water feature / pond which attracted frogs. I have planted some more native grasses and reeds around the pond and hope the frogs return soon. I won't go too much into detail, but a neighbour did not like the frogs making so much noise at night and came over complaining one night. He went so far as to call the local council to complain. I really couldn't do anything about removing the frogs and beside, I loved them. Unfortunately, one day I came home and discovered a frog floating belly up. I haven't seen another frog since.
EM and mmMekitty, BBQ and sausage sizzle sounds so inviting. I had a Bunnings sausage on the weekend and it was gloriously yum. I don't have anything planned for dinner yet, but I think I am going to get some sausages. I am going to send my son out for a cumberland sausage hunt!
Enjoy your day, wherever you may be today!

Hi tealflowers, sorry I must've been on my way out when you popped in & missed your post.
I know you were up fairly late, because so was I. Although, I should not have been still here at that hour, I could not resist playing a few games before going to bed. I find the games help me to shift gears & relax.
How was your sleep?
I hope you are able to get out & do some things, fun & interesting things.
Weather in my area is looking a bit dull & uncertain.
I think I'd go to the big home/hardware/garden place ONLY for the sausage sizzle! Sadly, no car, no ability to drive anyway, so can't. 😾
With someone, I once went to a large garden centre, where they had a cafe/restaraunt that was great. Of-course the idea is to keep customers there longer, & to make some money , even if we didn't by garden related things. Instead of getting tired looking around, then going home, you have a break & rest & then can look around some more. Worked a treat. I'm sure we all bought more that day than we otherwise might have.
Happy day, all.

Lol I had to do a double take as I wondered if I was in the BB Gardeners thread!
LOVE GARDENS and love gardening time permitting.
Community gardens are such a wonderful way for people to stay connected, also to share and some times cook the produce on site.
We've been involved in PUSHING for food growing trees and Community Gardens in all sorts of places.
Happily now we have 2 Community Gardens within a very short walk of our home lol. One about 4 houses away and another one about 14 houses away.
More the further we go.
We now grow food within my work gardens, much to the shock of everyone saying "food plants wouldn't grow here" - yah they grew! I started this from the ground up about 10y ago and now we have gardens growing food EVERY place available lol!
Please pop into the Gardening Thread to chat more because I'm sure there's lots to talk about!
We had another warm beautiful day.
Now it's raining and that's okay with me because I'm home now, nice and warm in my PJs lol!
WOW folks!
We're up to the groovin' 1970s in our page count!
I think I was wearing purple cullottes with long purple socks and white boots in 1970 lol.
We're getting there peeps, keep the convo coming!
Love EM

Unless you would like me for a scarecrow, I'm not much good out in the garden. 😺I can also get up high to keep a look out for interlopers who might mix the salad before it is harvested.
The most significant thing about 1970 for me was that was the year I came to Australia.
The weather still looks unsettled, though I didn't notice any of the predicted rain yesterday & not so far today.

Oh dear... 1970s fashion... I'm envious Em I wanted the knee high white boots but wasn't allowed them... my favourite outfit back then was a wrap around cotton skirt which could be also worn as a halter style wrap around dress... of course it was patterned with all those "lovely" 70s colours... the final piece of the outfit was the must have footwear - treads... for non Victorians the sole was made from recycled car tyres & the top was woven suede... very stylish... lol...

Bring back the recycled car tyres! That ought to be 'Trending' as we speak.
& yeah, I liked the colours, but I wasn't yet buying my own clothes.
Somewhere on the news someone said something about mullet hair styles being back in vogue. Did anyone hear the whole story? I wasn't paying much attention at the time, so missed most of it. I don't know if a modern take on the mullet is any different from the original. When was the mullet most popular?
I think 'flares' or 'bell bottom' jeans were popular from mid 1960s to mid 1970s & I liked those. Oh, & the wide belts...

Hi tealflowers,
Late night again? I used to, but find I can't be up as late now. Instead, I'm waking way too early, & realising I can't get back to sleep, I get up. This morning it feels even too early for coffee, so I've squeezed an orange & mixed with soda water. I don't know that I like this as an alternative to coffee, when my bottle is finished.... Yeah, sometimes it is hard to think of something to say.
It's officially Spring. Do you feel it, yet? I think the weather feels as if there has been a shift, & it is not 'freezing' to me anymore. It's other things on my mind keeping me in my 'winter feeling'. It won't be too much longer though, & I am sure I will feel better. Coming here, chatting, or seeing the now familiar circular avatars, reading your voices in how you write, helps a great deal.
In another half an hour, when there's a little light in the sky, I can think it's time for an early breakfast. I actually feel like doing sausages & fried eggs.
Good morning, ❤️ tealflowers & ❤️ everyone.
mmMekitty
