The BB cafe is open for business!
Welcome all to a new chill and chat place for everyone on the forum.
The BB cafe is whatever you want it to be. There are comfy sofas, tables and chairs, coffee machines, a kitchen stocked with everything. There's a pool outside, a bbq area, an annexe with comfy beds for a quiet sleep, tv, dvd, books and whatever else you would like to have here.
Most of all, it's a place to meet friends and fellow travellers for a bit of company. Talk over problems, tell jokes, share your day, escape into a world of your making. Grab a coffee and pull up a chair ...
So, with a nod to the wonderful Carole King (Hard Rock Cafe) ...
Now if you're feeling just a little bit lonely
Don't sit at home just mopin'
Come on down to where the friendship flows freely
You know the door is always open
At the BB cafe
Come to the BB cafe
They will help keep your blues at bay
At the BB cafe

Monkey, that's spicy, isn't it?
I'll stick to (maybe literally) my smilky tomato soup with past, chunks of ham & cheese, & croutons! That's not much to ask for... seeing as I'm the cook.😺
Although I find it much easier to identify an actor if they are so very individual, like Arnold Schwarzenegger or Whoopi Goldberg, I'd rather not remember who they really are while they are in character. I even like singers to surprise me with something totally unexpected, so much so that I have doubts it's them!
Stephen King sure surprised me with his 'Gunslinger' series. When I began reading the first volume, I had wondered if it really was the Steven King I have felt I known for maybe 20yrs by then. & I took my time getting into it, too. Now I think it is one of the best (each book inthe series is very high in my esteem) of his many books & stories. There are a couple other books which I would place higher.
In many small ways, or sometimes authors will write fictionalised characters based upon themselves. Always take these with the knowledge the whole fiction story is fiction! Steven King has done this too. 😺So funny, & poignant, given, knowing what little I do know about him, & could see some measure of deep honesty in there too.
I enjoy the complexity & ambiguity.
I know my poems are 99% real me on display. Others, I suspect, somewhere hidden in the subtext.
Thanks Tayla. I have been thinking about this a bit, because you ask a question. 😺I like that!

Hi all,
I tend to defend certain actors and singers. Especially to my partner who hates all social media. If I like them, I will defend them but I don't get upset if he continues to bag them. It's been cool up here today, so the jumper is on along with the house socks. Tomorrow is said to be especially wet, so I will go and vote in between rain periods. It certainly looks like winter now.
I might stay a while and have a hot dog with cheese and onion, please. I might have that with a flat white. On the way home I am going to look in the library for that 'Gunslinger' book mmeKitty!

Hi Leisa,
You into weird stories, with some horror, not really sci-fi, more like speculative fiction, & some fantasy, & some funny bits, & some very emotional bits? It is also a long series of books as well, with a final ending I'm not sure many people will be altogether happy with. I was, because I like that something is left unresolved. Not saying anymore than that!
Funny you mention hot dogs. I decided to have my soup later, & had a couple sausages, cut lengthwise, with onion, cheese & basil pesto in a toasted sandwich for lunch.
The soup was tonight, only I skipped the cheese, having had some at lunchtime..
This site is the only online social site I use. Or maybe you count YouTube, but I haven't registered, & don't comment on there. 😺 So I'm probably on your partner's side!

Hi everyone,
Morning, I hope you are OK On the Road, I had a similar problem yesterday, just spiraling all day with gloomy untrue thoughts. I feel better today and a bit more on top of things, but just wanted to say I know a little about how you feel.
The description of that book that you gave me mmMekitty is right up my alley. I love Stephen King, but did not know he wrote the gunslinger books. I have requested it from the library here, and it's on its way. Very excited! I have just been to vote and later I am attending a comedy festival to watch a show. I'll have to get glammed up the show is at a pretty ritzy venue so will have to slap the makeup on! I love going out, but hate the leadup and usually don't want to go around a couple of hours before. I guess that is a hallmark of what I am going through. They had a sausage sizzle at the voting booth, plus a cake stall, but I have decided to stop at the cafe and have a chicken burger with lettuce, tomato and ranch sauce, please.
Have a good day

Sounds great, Leisa,
I love a sausage sizzle; makes me wish going to a polling booth would have worked for me.
I was not comfortable having to walk around or stand around either before or after any concert or show. I'd rather plan to be there within 10 minutes, or closer to when the audience is expected to go to their seats. Then we'd still be waiting while everyone came in & were setttled, & finally, all waiting.
These were classical music concerts & recitals. I do particularly enjoy when an orchestra begins their brief, last minute warm-up. It gets the anticipation fairly surging through my veins!
& when it's over, & too many minutes have been spent applauding until your hands hurt, & my brain is buzzing with the noise overload, I just wanted to get out of there again.
I can only hope your comedy performers are so funny your jaw hurts from laughing😹!
*
It took me a while to realise, when I was in such a depressed state, that it would not last forever, & furthermore, the feelings do fluctuate from day to day, or even hourly, if we care to notice. It can be difficult to notice from within. That's why I think, keeping a mood diary is a good idea. Or the Thread here, 'Best Word To Decribe Today'. That could be a nice substitute for a mood diary? What do you reckon?
I don't use it like that, because I often don't have one word, but seem to be noticing many shifts in mood & emotion, depending on what's happening, the weather, if I got more or less than 6 hrs sleep, how my body is feeling, too.
I have realised. although I wanted more sleep, & tried, my feet were cold, & I couldn't warm them, & the rest of me was too cool as well, but snuggling in bed wasn't helping.
So, now, I have had lunch, & that has warmed me right up! Just preparing it warmed me up, then eating warmed me even more.
Interesting, huh?
I would like to make some more bikkies this afternoon, so I'd better get to it. 😺

Oh, Leisa, I don't know... the Stephen King series is called "The Dark Tower" series, & t"The Gunslinger" is just the first book in the series.
🙀 really... I was fine up until 10 minutes ago, now my legs hurt, I can't sit still. I must lie down, sleep a little, I hope too. So frustrating...

Hi mmMekitty,
The show was okay, I found myself laughing at a couple of the jokes, but not as much as I hoped. It was held at a small venue, and people were quite aggressive in getting to their seats with all their alcohol so it spoilt it a bit. One lady practically crash tackled me to get to the bar it was just befuddling to me. You eventually get there, you just have to stand in line!
I hope your legs are better and that you have had a good rest. I am having a quiet day today, just studying and keeping my son company. I will go to the local book fair later ($2 dollars a book) and see if there are any gems there. Yes, it's funny how food warms you up. Aren't human beings funny!
