Movie club for the disenchanted

Hi all,

I’ve only been here a couple days but I get so much from this forum that it has inspired me to reach out and invite all to provide an article/ review of a movie you have seen, and why chose to write about it. How did the movie impact you? Does it relate to what you are going through? Or does it show you that things can get better? It’s open season on self expression through the cinema...

Hi Billyc

I recently saw the movie Five Feet Apart. It is quite a sad movie about people with cystic fibrosis, but it made me realise how lucky I am not to have such a horrible disease.

Hi Jojo

I haven’t seen that one, I’ll keep a look out for it.

Hi peoples, I have a slightly 'cough' weird sense of humour which often drags me back down to earth and beats me about the head with UN-reality so I can better cope with real reality....read it again I'm sure it will make more sense the second time.... SOOOOOOO my pick would have to be 'Idiocracy' A movie about an average schmo who volunteers for an army experiment and wakes up in a laughably distopean future full of complete morons (the fact that I can't spell distopean is NOT lost on me lol). I won't be that person that ruins the movie but it always makes me feel a little better about myself, a little afraid for the generations of the future and gives me a heady laugh as I look out at the world and think " meh, could be worse!"

Hiya

I like the title of your movie: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. What’s it about?

Hey Jojo,

It is a great title!

I’ll do my best to explain! it’s about a guy that’s wants to forget about the feelings he has for someone when their relationship doesn’t work out, and finds a “quick fix” to do it..

i wont spoil it, but highly recommend..

its got Jim Carey in it as his “serious” self

Hey Mad duck,

its got Luke Wilson in it.. I like his stuff, Is it the one where he becomes the president? Or is it Terry Cruz who is president and everything around him is all chaotic ?

re: spotless mind, the reason i love it is because they created a very quirky way to visualise the story, it’s very clever.. but the story itself I’m sure would be very relatable to a lot of people on the forum, finding a quick fix to get out of what I’m experiencing.., but never quite works out that way
