MBTI personality types

I have had an ongoing fascination with analysing personality, and what makes myself and others tick, and have found the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator to be a surprisingly accurate measure of such things. I have catalogued the types of many of the people in my life, and probably driven them nuts with my project. It's an interesting study, though, observing consistent traits among the types, how they relate to life skills, coping strategies, how they function in different settings and why.

If you know your type, feel free to share, and things you may have discovered about yourself or that have helped you relate to others using resources about it. If you don't know your type, and want to, I found the site 16 Personalities pretty good for testing and dissecting the types.

If it's of any interest, I am an INTP, and the information about my type on that site is pretty spot-on. I've only used that as a starting point for my research. There is so much information out there on the types, and the differences between them that actually goes a long way to breaking down the core of otherwise confusing conflicts, or getting the most out of a person at work or in a friendship, etc.

Anyway, it's a bit of a project of mine, and I wanted to open it up to anyone who wants to contribute.

Found this interesting Blue...

INFJs are deeply concerned about their relations with individuals as well as the state of humanity at large. They are, in fact, sometimes mistaken for extroverts because they appear so outgoing and are so genuinely interested in people -- a product of the Feeling function they most readily show to the world.

Yep, that definitely fits my observations, and also underpins the reasons for social interactions being exhausting for you guys. It's very true of my friend and from some things I've read on your thread I'd guess probably true of you that the amount of energy you put into maintaining those relations and worrying about the state of them does make being around people a lot of effort for you, and hence you need to be alone to recharge.

Hi there,

I'm late to this party but I found out I am an ENFP and INFP because apparently I have only a 1% preference to E.

Yet to muddle through what it all means.

That's interesting, Carol. Have you had a read of the two profiles? You may find one rings true for you more than the other. I'm an INTP bordering on INTJ, but reading through the two profiles and other sites detailing the differences can see mostly INTP motivations even behind behaviours that could be expected of an INTJ. One letter or trait being different can still result in some fairly significant differences between the types.

Sorry Blue - Another INFJ fact ....

Only one percent of the population has an INFJ Personality Type, making it the most rare of all the types.

Sorry to keep going on but I have found this to be so fascinating.

Thanks for this thread Blue and Wednesday for letting me know of it xx

Certainly no need for an apology. I have read that, when I was learning about my friend, so it doesn't surprise me too much you're only the second INFJ I've met. It's nice to have more first-hand data on an INFJ to compare with what I have already seen.

We INTPs make up about 3%. That said, I'm not sure of the population base being surveyed to get that figure. Most of these things are collated in America. What that means for figures across the globe, I couldn't say.

A nice tidbit about my type for you, which you may have an inkling of from some of my posts already, is that INTPs are the most logically precise of all the types. If I can't be the rarest, I'm content with most logical. Fits me perfectly.

Live long, and prosper.

Hehe are INTPs competitive 😉

Incredible how many come here and then go check out there personality trait. I love coming to this thread to check out your responses to each of the comments left. Quite detailed and precise. You have had a lot to with these personality tests which is incredible. This field and that of observing people and trying to figure them out truly intrigues me. Look forward to more stimulating responses.
