So at work today we were a bit on the quiet side, and so we decided to use the quite few minutes to go around the team and choose nicknames for everyone! Nothing nasty of course, all friendly and only nicknames that we can all agree on, and be comfortable with. (I work with the best colleagues!) Anyway, so the really tall guy wants to be called either Ace or Stretch, one girl likes to be called ..... something ...... dammit, I can't remember now. I wanted to call her 'Red' cos she's a redhead! Um, Our 2IC we're calling Boss babe ...... anyway, we went through the whole team and there were nice cheeky smiles all around, and then I piped up and said "Hey, but what about me? What's my nickname?" and a couple of the girls, in complete unison said "Mel, you're Dory fish! Remember?!" and I said "Oh yeah, of course I am! I forgot about that!" Hahahaha!!!!!!! We all laughed so much!

I really am a Dory fish, I forget so much stuff! ....... I actually, genuinely had a brain injury when I was a kid and didn't know my name for a few days, and had several weeks off school trying to get myself back together. At the time I was teased a LOT because I had to re-learn some things that had been quite basic before.

These days, a lot of the time, I use humor to deal with my memory issues and tell people (customers) all sorts of funny things like "I'll come and meet you again in a moment!" or something else that will give people a laugh, like "My memory is so bad I could plan my own surprise party!". I love to make people smile and laugh, and I try to make light of it often.

Only a few minutes earlier, before this little 'moment' of mine, we had been talking about a couple of very heavy issues so it was nice to have a laugh-out-loud moment, and to make light of what can sometimes be an incredibly frustrating issue.

What a great Idea for a Thread using one of my favourite quotes.

I have a few things that I use to be a bit silly. To take this famous quote into joke form if I see someone giggling or laughing I say the most silly thing to them - but I am sure you can make sense of it.

"Thank you for taking your medication!"

They look at me silly still giggling a bit more, so I say:

"Very good you're taking another dose of it now!"

Most people would have the penny drop by this stage, but if it doesn't I say:

"You're taking the best medicine, laughter. It works in hospitals and all, to the point where doctors dress as clowns. Didn't you know that Laughter is the best medicine?"
