Dear DB~

The most common cause of white space at the end of a post is because you have hit the ENTER (also called RETUN key several times. Each time it creates a new blank line.

If you move your cursor to the very bottom of the post and hit the BACKSPACE key several times you will hopefully see the gap get smaller

Exit...stage Left...evennn.

Slides out unnoticed, splashes water on face

Not sure that you can. But if I have to send a important message to someone, I will write text into something like notepad and the copy (Ctrl-A then Ctrl-C) and paste (Ctrl-V) the message into the message section. I assume that you are doing this from PC vs phone.

If I do it from the phone, then do it on a wing and a prayer. I can only type with one finger on phone. My kids are fast with their thumbs... but me.... nah!

Dear DB aka Snagglepus~

I've no idea what you are talking about 😞

If the problem of the white space at bottom of posts is not fixed please tell me in words of one syllable or less, I'm linguistically challenged when it comes to speech originating under the long white cloud.

If it is fixed then I guess you can switch to another cartoon universe and say "That's All Folks!"

Dear Smallwolf~

Your method makes sense.

I too type elsewhere and then paste into the edit box here to post. Many times the internet breaks and very occasional this site goes down and my message can be lost. So for anything long or complicated it's the way to go, this however did create a problem. I normally use Word and have found the pasted text is badly formatted and I have to tidy it up, a tedious job. I've got round that in recent times with a plugin (Copy Plain Text) for my browser that straightens out some of these problems an makes it simple.

Again like you I hunt and peck on the mobile and think it is for kids that were born clutching a smartphone.

Croix

Hi Moonstruck,

I've experienced that problem too - you're not alone! By the time the phone screen pops up the keyboard, there's barely a bee's bottom worth of space to type in!

Smallwolf's suggestion is a good one - if a reply is longish, or important, prepare it elsewhere, then copy-&-paste (text only, no formatting).

Two other things to try on a phone are:

Turn the phone sideways (landscape mode, rather than portrait). This should give you a larger, or at least wider, box to type in, so you don't need as much scrolling. Also, you might find the on-screen keyboard now has some extras - possibly even arrows for moving around.

An advanced exercise is to look into downloading alternative keyboard software/app which has the navigation arrows.

The 2nd thing to try is look in your phone browser settings for "Request Desktop Version". Your phone should now display the version of FaceBook designed for the PC, not the simplified version for a phone. You'll provably have to zoom in on the bit you want, but it may have scroll bars on text boxes.

Cheers,

dniaiu

Sincere thanks for those who offered solutions.......scrolling solved!! Gee I am an IT nerd...I really am. Was shown one of the icons was actually an "option" icon.....letting me "Open Messenger" meaning the full screen version....plenty of room to type my message and scrolled down as I went along....what a relief!

the more we know and learn, the more technology advances....the more there is to know and learn....it just keeps going.............thanks for your help.
