Sometimes I change the course of a conversation or hijack it by picking up on a minor detail and going off in a whole new direction. I might need an outlet for my habit. So the rules are, you can join in the conversation by taking it in a whole new direction or saying something that just doesn't follow on. Remember that we are not being serious...

My uncle is Welsh He couldn't speak English when he married my mum's sister. she had to learn Welsh. He taught me a few words but I have forgotten them. My mum was evacuated to Wales & learnt some Welsh. I love Wales

Da iawn! Elizabeth. The language is slowly coming back so words once learned but not used are often lost - that is the case for me too, english is the most reliable language for me now. I dream of perhaps one day taking residence in a little farm house on a mountainside with sheep.

My uncle & aunt bought an old cottage in Wales which they renovated. I remember late in the afternoon going out to collect the sheep & put them in a pen for safety. Some of them had got caught on the rocky slopes & we had to help them back down to safety. I think they were caught by bushes or fencing & couldn't get back down. It was winter so they had to be down in sheltered area overnight so they didn't freeze.

It's winter alright, I can feel the wind coming off the mountains, it is definitely snowing up there.

'Tis raining here ........... at last. Just hope it doesnt last too long, or blow too hard.

It's all squelchy and soggy out because of the rain doing what it does. There are puddles in the culverts and ditches. The internet is uncooperative, the water must have gotten through one of those protective supermarket bags. And I woke up to the thuds of cars crashing, which is a strangely soothing noise if you don't think about it too much.

Ah, so the rain has reached you also Rob? My brother has lots of problems with his phone whenever it rains. They obviously used the 'green supermarket bags' in his area. You know, the ones that break down quickly?

What do you reckon about this silly ex military current Australian of the Year telling us we cant use the term 'guys' any more? I honestly cant believe its come to this. Just interested in what you guys think about it ..........

When I think about it, people always pull themselves up when including me in a group using the word 'girls' perhaps getting comfortable with doing that could be on the agenda. Why should there be a worry about offending someone by including with girls but not when including with guys?

I nearly drove off the road when I heard that.....no matter how much I care for people..Looks like individuality has gone right out the window.

Politically Overcorrectness out of control

I'm afraid our family is very politically incorrect. My SIL & son have same names so we were having a discussion on what to call my SIL to distinguish him from my son. He said he didn't mind so my youngest dtr suggested Ching Chong China Man'' (He's asian) Fortunately he knew us well enough to take it as intended, as a joke.
