Hey! Welcome to Friends Cafe.
This is a chill and chat space for young BB members to talk about anything and everything and make new friends.
When school's getting to you, uni or work has got you down, parents, partners, friends don't understand, and especially if you're feeling alone or lonely - come and relax awhile and talk to others who know just how you feel.
Our minds can cause us trouble, but they can also be amazing things that imagine beauty, love and fun. This cafe has everything you can imagine. To start with it's, well, a cafe. So there's chairs and tables, comfy couches for flopping, a big screen tele, unlimited download on computers for games, Spotify (or an old-school jukebox if you prefer), every movie you can think of on instant demand ... whatever you want, it's here. Post and tell us what'd you'd like.
Plus, there's an infinite menu of whatever food or drinks takes your fancy. And it's all free!
To kick it off, today we have a special range of Monster Milkshakes - those thick gooey shakes topped with cronuts, chocolate bars, cake, cookies ... whatever you want. And if you can get through one of them, you're a legend (and probably feeling a little bit sick LOL!)
Welcome friends.

Hi Kaz,
Yep, I will still consider you young! Oh gosh, I'm so clueless. I knew Grace stayed at her school's boarding house, but I didn't realise she was from China. At my old school we had international student boarders, as well as people from country areas in our state and from interstate. I just didn't put two and two together. Thanks so much for that heads up! Yes, she'll be 16 soon! That's pretty exciting 😄
Best wishes,
SM

Aaaahhhh! Sherie! (Dives under a beanbag to hide)
You know I thought of you the second after I posted that! Hahahaha. I thought, ohhh what have I said, I'm gonna be in trouble from Sherie!
Sorry hun. Was just joking - and I think we probably both accept that we're no spring chickens anymore. Headless chooks maybe, but not chickens. LOL!
See you at the Other cafe where we can be not so young together. 😃😃 Now, where did I put my glasses and why am I looking in the fridge?

No use hiding Kaz - I can see where you are, and I'm pretty accurate with a tomato in hand!
Nevertheless, I do accept that am more of a headless chook than any spring chicken. ( - :
So I will leave this one to the youngsters and go back to the oldies Cafe where I can act my age.
But I would still like to reserve my right to be an honorary visitor here occasionally?
Sigh ..............

Hey dear SM!!
Thank you very much for your lovely message, I saw it posted on the pinboard only this morning (and that pinboard is just around the corner by the book shelve btw), I loved it and thank you for you kind words!
Yes as Kaz say I am from China and I live here in Sydney city in a Catholic girls' school's boarding house, I'm not actually Catholic, I'm non-religious but we all thought this would be a nice school to attend, although I am non-religious I do like the values here.
That's interesting what your Uni does with Psychology, it's smart, so now everyone gets a chance to study the courses, just have to compete for the honours as you say, that benefits everyone! And that puts a bit pressure on you too I suppose? To have to compete for the 4th year? Do you mind me asking what happens when you don't get the honours? There'd be a plan too for that I suppose? 🙂
Anyways, I went to see Zootopia with a good friend on Sunday and had a giant vegetarian burger so I felt pretty good! Now I'm 3 days away from school holidays (2 weeks), and my birthday will be the last day before we come back to the boarding house (Anzac day)--special thanks to Kaz for mentioning that!! Feels down right exciting when my friends here are thinking about it 😉 Hmm party... party... the idea of that is getting me excited slowly bit by bit.
Anyways SM I agree 14 is a young age to do anything really, and the important thing is I really did enjoy hanging out with those beautiful angels, I assume you like kids as well since you signed up before to work with children, also for the baby sitting job--how did that go btw? 🙂
You are such a kind soul SM I hope you have a great night!! Have you been able to spend some time with you boyfriend for the past few days? Thinking of you dear SM 🙂
With Love,
Grace xx

Hey dear Kaz and Sherie!!
Oh you guys make me laugh, you know what I think you are just as young as we are! Much much spirit everyday, cheering everyone up, so young in the heart 🙂
Also Kaz, not much use looking in the fridge.. I stole the last bit of cookies last night when I stayed up past midnight, sorry! Will make some cupcakes in compensation, I would be cautious with my baking skills though hahaha
And Sherie, honorary visiter?! You can be an Often visiter, an Everyday visitor, or an Honorary visiter who comes as often as she wants for as far as I'm concerned! Be whatever you like to be, you definitely get that Honorary title tho, what you do with it is completely up to you 😛
And the cafe is quite again, I will send a big official welcome to the new member lovely Becka, right now I've just put spotify on and listening to radio hits, sitting on one of the bean bags, the one Kaz hid behind... 🙂
Kind thoughts and much much love to all of you!! 🙂 ❤️
With Love,
Grace xx

Hey dear Becka!!
I will give you a big big welcome for joining the cafe!! You seem very lovely and we have one common interest already--Monster Milkshakes!!
And it's awesome news to hear you like Italian food, as we have a chief here once a while who will cook us some really nice authentic Italian food 🙂 Also, do you like to read? We have a lot of books Kaz brought, sitting on the book shelve in the corner, I haven't had time in the past few days to go through them, but when you get a chance you can go flip through them and see if there's something you like. We've also got spotify here as well as an old-fashioned jukebox here in the cafe, we touch on both sides as I like both classic and pop stuff 🙂
Anyways, I hope you've had an amazing day!! And if you ever feel tired or need hugs and words of support, or simply just want to share any random thoughts, this will always be your safe place and never hesitate to come!! We will all be sitting around waiting for you (unless I fall asleep on one of the bean bags, which I really like to do after having a hot drink, with some soft volume music on :P)
And hope you have a great evening!!
With Love,
Grace xx

Hi! I hope you are all going well!
So I finally gathered the courage to sign up (after reading these forums for months) and this is my first post so I feel a bit anxious and kind of feel like I'm intruding but the community here is so welcoming and supportive and I just think this cafe is such a wonderful wonderful idea!!
I have just finished my half yearly exams for year 12 and I haven't been feeling the best for the past few weeks so I thought I would come here to relax and meet some new people. If possible, I would love a monster milkshake and would maybe like to read a book or just sit and listen to some music as I really love both those things 🙂
I hope everyone is being kind to themselves and I look forward to getting to know you a little better!

Hi ahw309,
Welcome to the forum!
I'm very glad you found the courage to join this community. You are definitely not intruding at all 😄 In fact, you're already part of the virtual café now!
Well done for finishing your exams! I can relate to feeling uneasy and anxious during Year 12. I became quite anxious and didn't get enough sleep during Year 12. Thankfully, I got through and received an adequate/competent ATAR. To be honest, once you've been out of high school for a few years, your ATAR is quite unimportant. What is important is doing the best you can under the circumstances. I know multiple people who underachieved in Year 12, and then went on to complete uni subjects in a course to gain credits to move into their preferred degree. Though it takes a bit longer, it works well for some.
I just want you to know that Year 12 is not the one defining achievement in your life, though it can feel very much that way while you're doing it. The main thing is to consistently get the work done, keep asking your teachers for help, get enough sleep, take breaks, continue doing activities you enjoy, and spending time with family and friends. Talk to your school counsellor or psychologist if you find yourself in an emotional rut at any stage.
Sorry for the spiel - I just wanted to tell you what I wish I had very much drilled into me during Year 12 (I am 23 now by the way).
I hope you're having a nice week. What is your favourite subject this year by the way? Also, what's your ideal thing to do on the weekend or during holiday breaks?
Best wishes,
SM
