Hi guys,
I was inspired by Neil's thread about favourite movies. I want to know - what are some of your favourite bands/musicians?
Do you have an album that you listen to over and over? Is there a songwriter who you connect with, that seem like they draw their lyrics directly from your soul? What is your favourite style of music? Who did you grow up listening to?
Are you a musician yourself?
And importantly, I'm always looking to discover another band or genre so if you have any suggestions of a great song let me know so that I can look it up 🙂
As for me, I don't really like most of the stuff that gets played on the radio. The lyrics seem meaningless to me, and the songs are mostly produced just to make money - not to connect with an audience or tell a story. I prefer songs and artists that are sincere and genuine, that confront important and real life topics or are emotionally touching. that doesn't mean I live for slow ballads... no, I listen to all kinds of music, fast paced - slow and rhythmic, rap, hip hop, jazz, folk, rock, alternative, metal.... I love it so long as it has some depth.
I'm currently hooked on a band called Twenty One Pilots. I love em! Also, I recently discovered a genre called Nerdcore which is rapping about nerdy stuff like computer games and everyday events etc... I love rap but I don't love a lot of the language or topics that are usually rapped about, so chilling out to some lighthearted Nerdcore works for me 🙂

I was thinking of making a new post for something like this MUSIC FOR RELEASE OF MIND (Something like that)
I was going to ask what music people listen to that helps them get their minds out of a rut or state if you like.
With peoples suggestions I was planning on looking them up and making a music list for myself onto a USB. Today i'm listening to 95.3 up load, here in NSW and I've been dancing with the vacuum cleaner and duster while doing house chores and singing out loud. I live with my husband and his family while we save to buy our own home and they are all away at work or still on holiday so great opportunity for me to do a past time love of music playing loud.
Anyway my list for music to release the tension and stresses/worries going on in my mind are
1 I enjoy music from other lands so Eros Ramazzotti (Italian or Pavarotti) I don't understand what they are singing but I love the way the music with the voices just pick me up and I find myself trying to sing to it.
2 My parents bought me up on old music which I still enjoy so here goes: Charley Pride - Like a Rhinestone Cowboy, Temptations - My Girl, Christopher Cross - Between the Moon & New York City, Neil Diamond - Sweet Caroline, Van Morrison - Bright Side of the Road, Mick Jagger & Peter Tosh - Walk & Don't Look Back, Kenny Rogers - Gambler & Lucille. Yes I like a lot of old music Manhattans, Commodores and more.
I also like some Cold Chisel, Eagles, Little River Band, Dire Straits and many more but too many to add.
Love to hear what others listen to that picks them up.

It's not so much a playlist. Every time I think there's a moment in my life where I need to rewire. I listen to Float On - Modest Mouse.
It just reminds me no matter what it's going to be alright.
