Hi DB! Great to see you here. I'm tuning up my brand new Pandromium. It' sounds like chaos with a buzzing drone undercurrent. It's not quite the bagpipes most people have heard [ it's got more inbuilt designer cacophony than thy do.

Do you like the new apple pie (with custard) look? The only way to tell for sure it's actually Croix's iceberg, is because it's frozen, even the swirls of steam  I have included. Lots of tiny water crystals, with helium inside, to keep them hovering above the berg. I think they are very effective. I bet you can't even tell which is actually the smoke from Croix's fireplace chimney.

I'd love to see Grandy here again, too, bringing the sunshine & glitter, & no-one can drive a steam train quite so well as Grandy.

I think a big, noisy homecoming party for Croix would be grand!

Hi DB, MK and All,

Lovely to see you here DB!

Wouldn’t it be grand to have Grandy’s train chuff chuffing around the Applepieberg! The toot tooting will add a nice touch to the Pandromium. Or perhaps Grandy’s train is like one of those locomotives from British Columbia that makes a deep low sound, thus it will blend with the drone of the Pandromium, intensifying the rumbles through the Applepieberg on which the custard will now be wobbling, or at least any bits that aren’t 100% frozen.

This will be a surreal dessert experience for Croix to return to with an accompanying soundscape. If the kiwis can’t control themselves they may start trying to eat the Applepieberg but end up face down in custard. That will be a sight for Croix to behold.

I’m getting hungry for apple pie. Yum yum 😋

Yeah, hungry for apple pie, but not for upturned kiwis in custard!

Oh, look, some have inflated some lime lamingtons ... bouncy, bouncy, leaving shredded coconut everywhere ...

Hi Croix, I think I see you on the horizon ... look, see me waving? Really, this is your iceberg, womewhere underneath, at any rate ... [LRC waves wildly, jumping up & down on a wobbly area of custard]

Don’t worry MK, I have my team of stingrays poking the kiwis at regular intervals to keep them away from the custard!

Thank you kindly MK. Unfortunately I can’t get the SBS 32 movies channel, only the main SBS one and their food channel. I’m not sure why. I hope you’ve been enjoying the movie. Tis many years since I saw it. Sleep well and good night to you and LRC 😴 🐱

Hi ER, (Croix & everyone)

I hadn't heard of the movie until it was praised right here on Croix's iceberg. It sounded like an interesting movie, promising some good music, so I was very happy to see it on SBS 32, because they also had audio description, (though it really didn't need lotsa description to follow).

My only criticism would be that there was no other band to compare 'our heroes' with.  Some of the behaviour of the several men was appalling, but I accept it was a different decade of a different, earlier century.

They certainly did not want their political message to get lost in all the music, romance, &family content.

I wonder if you are able to connect to SBS online, & might watch it there? (I can only hope the problem I had encountered when trying to watch a movie again, doesn't happen anymore. I got stuck in an ad, which was a recent 'feature' of their online service. I never got to see the rest of the movie. They were not of much help when I contacted them about it.)

Or maybe there is another place online you could use.

I hope you've been enjoying your time outdoors, in good weather, (I  hope). It's been good where I am, so I am very optimistic you have great weather where you are.

I wanted to have some pastry today, just not with my hair in it! I love that the cheese melts & dribbles off onto the baking paper & becomes crispy & so yummy.

If I make pastries at Croix's icebrg, I'll take over the fireplace, no worries.

Hi MK,

It’s so long now since I’ve seen the movie that I’ve forgotten much of the details. I mainly remember the band playing music and that there was a romance and that there were issues relating to closures in the coal industry. On some recent travels I’ve passed through a coal mining town. They feel like they have a character of their own, different from other kinds of mining towns. Of course it’s an industry that is going to wane now as renewables become increasingly important.

Yes, there is SBS On Demand I think it’s called. I used to watch ABC iview which is similar. I think with both you have to subscribe now which I haven’t done, but can look into it. It’s frustrating you got stuck in an ad with the service.

Yes, the weather has been quite good here too. There was a little light rain yesterday but some lovely sunshine too. Spring is in the air!

The pastries sound yummy MK! I’m sure you are now an expert in apple pie creation given your wondrous efforts at the iceberg. I am still mesmerised by the frozen helium steam particles! It is not just an apple pie, but a scientific invention and work of art all in one.

Would you believe I'm trying to out-cook Heston Blumenthal?

No? LRC doesn't believe it either.

I think we could play a new game of 'Where's the Walrus'? I'm sure by now, he must be hiding somewhere on, around, upon, or under this applepieberg. Or maybe he has snuck inside & is planning on eating his way out, eventually.... maybe when he thinks we're all asleep?

I think when I was installing all the speakers, I unfortunately, didn't think to install just as many microphones ...

Ah, yes, ‘Where’s the Walrus’?! Excellent suggestion. My team of stingrays have had their tails tuned to the same frequency as a walrus’s whiskers. Thus they can now act as walrus detectors. At least in theory. I do wonder if you are correct, that Croix may be inside the crust of the applepieberg and is now contentedly enjoying munching on apple pie. We can also look for signs of tusks poking through the custard.

I think you can definitely out-cook Heston Bleumenthal. For all his unusual and experimental creations, I bet he has never thought of an applepieberg!
