BB Book Club

Hello all,

I have noted that there are a few readers on these forums. And, at the times we find it a struggle to read, we at least like the idea of reading. So, I thought I would start this Book Club thread, whereby we first throw out some genres, come to a consensus and read for as long as it takes us to read. No pressure. And should the whim take us, we can start discussing said book on here. How much we all hate/love that character. The feels the book is giving us, etc. Plus, a good excuse to take us out of our heads and into someone else's, even if it is fictional (or perhaps not?).

So, my genres:

A particular favourite is historical fiction, and next to that is post-apocalyptic/dystopian fiction. I read the classics, fantasy, philosophy and science books. And my version of a quick read is something with adventure with a bit of history there (come full circle), and maybe crime. I have never got into law based fiction books. But law based non-fiction I can do for some reason. Anyway, that's me. If I think of anything else I'll let you know. I have a "To read" list, and if anyone wants whatever is on there, let me know.

Good luck with your trials ahw309!! You can do it!

Hey, no problem. Between study, work, and exercise, I only have a couple of hours a week to myself anyway. That'll be reading time. As I said, no time limit, no pressure.

I suppose, to be fair to the others, if we do start up a convo about the book, we state the page number on the first line so if we aren't up to it yet, we pass the post by? How's that sound?

Oh, and more importantly, good luck!

Hello All

Can I join in too please? I'd like to give this a go. I don't usually read sci fi but I quite like sci fi movies. I believe I can get a copy from iBooks.

I've never been part of a book club.

Pet 😊

Of course, Pet, welcome 🙂

Well I ordered a copy today. I normally read on my kindle but with my memory issues I am thinking a paper copy will make it easier to flick back if I forget things.

Sounds like we may all go slow. 🙂

BB book club will be fun. Should receive mine tomorrow in the post 🙂

How long do we have to read it and how will it work??

Hey Emmy, good news about the book. I should be finding a copy myself tomorrow (and maybe another book haha). I was just thinking to take the pressure off with this book club, because we all have ups and downs, and we don't need a deadline looming around us to add to the feelings. We take as long as we need. And for common courtesy, if we discuss anything about the current book, we mention it in the first sentence as well as the page number, so the others know, spoiler alert haha. I have been instructed to set aside down time for myself, so I will try at least to read a bit a week. Possibly a chapter or so. I'm open to any other suggestions, purely winging it with the ideas, but I hope it sounds okay

I love the idea of no pressure and the "spoiler alter" sentence with the page number we are on 🙂

Hope you've had a better day I know yesterday was a tough one for you. Emmy x

Thanks. Today has been a bit better , yea. Take work out of the equation and a sleep in til 4am, and felt a bit better, though the migraine is sticking around. Ah well, can't have it all in life...not yet anyway.
