A song to express your feelings

At this hour, I find myself particularly vulnerable because I am heavily sleep deprived, and my brain can't really process. I have been awake for 21 hours and 12 minutes straight after a string of nights of only a few hours' sleep. I don't feel well, nor do I feel sleepy. So, I am listening to the soundtrack of my life entitled "Walkabouts" and right now, the perfect song to describe what I am feeling (at least the chorus of it) is Madness by Muse. Has anyone ever felt like they could communicate more if they did it through the songs that already exist? I challenge us to have a conversation consisting of song quotes.

So, dedicated to my depression; here I go...

Ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-mad mad mad...Ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-mad mad mad....Ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-mad mad mad...Ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-mad mad mad...I, I can't get these memories ooout of my mind, and some kind of maaaadness has started to evolve. Ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-mad mad mad...Ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-mad mad mad... And I, I tried so hard to let you go-ooo, but some kind of maaaadness is swallowing me whole, yeah....Ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-mad mad mad...Ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-mad mad mad...I have finally seen the light. And I have finally realized, what you mean....

Ooh oh oh

[MODERATOR'S NOTE: Hi everyone, just a reminder that song lyrics are copyrighted material, and we (as in BB) can get into trouble for reproducing them without permission.  If you could just keep to sharing song titles, or one or two lines from the song at most, rather than whole lyrics that would be great - that way we can keep this thread open. ]

Hi Fiatlux and Quirky,

Nice to hear of your songs. A Day on the Green sounds like it was a great concert Fiatlux. What a great line up. I saw Marlon Williams perform a few years ago and his voice is like velvet. You only hear a voice like that occasionally. A bit before that I saw Tim Freedman live, just him and the piano. It was really great.

Quirky, that’s a moving one, I Will Never Find Another You. I remember hearing the Seekers as a child as my parents had some of their records.

For me right now the song is:

Fireflies by Owl City

I’m pretty awake when I’m meant to be sleeping but not in a bad way as I’m feeling much better lately, and the song seems to fit somehow.

The Whole World Is Dreaming - Mark Seymour

Angels will come
To carry you home
You're never alone
When the whole world is dreaming

After yesterday I cannot stop crying. I think I just need to get it out of my system. 🙏🏼

Hello Moderators and forum Management personnel

Many of our members have been 'cautioned' about this legal issue, yet it is very helpful for the new members on the forums to have a basic grasp of copyright infringement complications by using lyrics without permission from the original artist and owner of the registered copyright.

Ill just keep my post very brief ...I dont know the track the OP was talking about

Thanks Paul,

I try to quote just a few lines from a song that I am feeling at that point in time. Mostly Australian artists. I hope that they wouldn’t mind or sue…

Your song, Mad World by Tears for Fears is an amazing song that has since been covered by a few artists.

I remember listening to this with my Daughter when she was in high school. Lily Allen did a cover which all the girls at school were listening to. The lyrics were resonating with her generation too.

When I played the Tears for Fears original version from when I was in High School, it blew her mind that it was an old song. She got onto FB and shared the information with her friends. Up until that point they all thought that Lily Allen was such a deep and thoughtful songwriter.

I always thought that the 80’s was all about bad hair, bad clothes and bad dancing until you break it down as you get older and realise that it was an innocent era. 🙏🏼  Fiatlux

I Won’t Complain by Benjamin Clementine is a masterpiece of a song and his piano is outstanding. Self taught. I discovered this song sometime ago and it is such a powerful and defiant piece.

Though my good days are far gone
They will surely come back one more
So I won't complain, no, no…

John Farnham popped into my playlist this morning with, No Ordinary World

My day starts out the same
Looks like it might rain
But I will not complain, because I can see the sun
I say my little prayers
Runnin down the stairs
