A song to express your feelings

At this hour, I find myself particularly vulnerable because I am heavily sleep deprived, and my brain can't really process. I have been awake for 21 hours and 12 minutes straight after a string of nights of only a few hours' sleep. I don't feel well, nor do I feel sleepy. So, I am listening to the soundtrack of my life entitled "Walkabouts" and right now, the perfect song to describe what I am feeling (at least the chorus of it) is Madness by Muse. Has anyone ever felt like they could communicate more if they did it through the songs that already exist? I challenge us to have a conversation consisting of song quotes.

So, dedicated to my depression; here I go...

Ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-mad mad mad...Ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-mad mad mad....Ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-mad mad mad...Ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-mad mad mad...I, I can't get these memories ooout of my mind, and some kind of maaaadness has started to evolve. Ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-mad mad mad...Ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-mad mad mad... And I, I tried so hard to let you go-ooo, but some kind of maaaadness is swallowing me whole, yeah....Ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-mad mad mad...Ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-ma-mad mad mad...I have finally seen the light. And I have finally realized, what you mean....

Ooh oh oh

[MODERATOR'S NOTE: Hi everyone, just a reminder that song lyrics are copyrighted material, and we (as in BB) can get into trouble for reproducing them without permission.  If you could just keep to sharing song titles, or one or two lines from the song at most, rather than whole lyrics that would be great - that way we can keep this thread open. ]

Red Rain - Peter Gabriel

The restless, turmoil of this song reflects my inner world right now. It is a storm that reaches a fever pitch of intensity before easing gradually into calm, which helps my body move through its turmoil and find some measure of peace by the end.

NERVE - Sung by Katie Noonan

She sings “How can I find a reason to love you, when I don’t love myself

Written by a very talented Jordan Rakei, a Kiwi Aussie, singer, songwriter.

Comfortably Numb - The David Gilmour with David Bowie performance, 2006 at Royal Albert Hall.

The Pink Floyd video for this is too traumatising for me at a sensory level and not really helpful to watch, but I love the live version which reaches some inner damaged part of myself. The guitar solo work is amazing too.

Hi Fiatlux, I love that Men at Work song. And those lyrics too. They were a great band.

Right now I can't sleep. Depressed since this afternoon as my health plummeted again. Feeling very unwell with my liver condition playing up. My life just feels like a decades long process of struggle at times. The only thing that is helping me is once again a Bruce Springsteen song. He just gets it. So the song I've just listened to twice is The Promise (Live in New York City), the version with just him on the piano. It is where my soul is at in this moment. it is about lost dreams and hopes, the struggle to keep holding onto them and then losing them again. It's also about feeling like you are carrying the broken spirits of others as well. That is exactly how I feel with ongoing complicated grief issues. It probably sounds depressing but this song is actually healing for me because of the empathy and understanding.

Eagle Ray, that Springsteen song is just so beautiful.

I had the fortune to see him live a fair few years back and it was pure perfection for 3 solid hours that flew by while I was mesmerised by it all. It really was like an out of body experience. 🙏🏼

Hey Eagle ... just wanted to comment that I'm quite partial to Pink Floyd. (Good taste in music)
