what am I doing

I do not know how to use this site and was looking for someone just to chat with.  I suffer from anxiety and have been suicidal quite a few times over the past 2years.  I have a husband who left because he did not want to know and kept saying get over it already.  Have a son who copes by hiding in his room playing games.  Have no family all abroad.  Find myself trying to push myself out of the quick sand and occasionally slipping under.  Made a promise to son so have not gone as far as I have wanted to.  Had counseling for 12 months. just don't know where or what to do as anxiety stops me from talking to total strangers.  Very lonely and confused as to what is expected of me.

Hi Pete

thank you - yes my day was pretty good.  As I said somewhere else, the anxious me will start wondering why am I feeling almost 'normal' 🙂

but you have not mentioned how you are travelling?  Did you have a good day?

Dougall - thank you for your kind comments.  It's nice to believe that we have made a small difference.

talk later

well the anxiety is slowing sneaking up on me, feel like I am wearing a metal strap around my ribs that keeps tightening.  5 hours before people arrive and I have to work out a way to calm down.  I suppose the time gives me the chance to analyse why I am feeling this way, oh I know why I suffer from anxiety ha ha.  I am going to pat myself on the back for getting this far into the day without feeling anxious.

Dougall - you have retained your sense of humour!  That is good, I think it is probably healthy to poke a bit of fun at yourself sometimes.  I find myself doing that, when I get confused about things, eg shopping centres with masses of people.

You are dong well my friend, a few butterflies are I suspect normal.  But try taking some time out and relax, breath and think of something else.  Maybe that might help.  Or do what I would do, go and have a nap!

take care & enjoy

Thanks Pete

Haha, spoke too soon.  My good run finished this morning.  Got to be thankful for the couple of good days I had.  I am getting used to the ups and downs.

I do a lot of research trying to learn more on mental illness.  I believe it can be a good thing, but I have also come to understand that I must be careful not to read too much into self diagnosis.

stay well
