That's a great attitude to have. So often we feel that our lives should change immediately. I know I am very impatient and expect a result yesterday.
Remember you can use this thread any time to have a chat.

Hi KMTE,
sorry you're struggling so much , I know how awful it is. Would it help if the dr put in writing what is. Amusing the chest pain and that it is not your heart. Could you ask for an ecg to confirm what he is saying. This would clear your mind and you would have it in writing to look back on for reassurance when you feel anxious.
are you starting different ad's?
i struggle with weekends too, I hear you.

Dear KMTE
Don't worry about the chest pain. I had the same condition Costacondritis. Not the right spelling I know. Yes it is painful. As I understand it the muscles of your chest wall are inflamed. Because we need to breathe the chest is constantly moving and causing pain. I was given a pain killer.
Never feel silly seeing your doctor at times like this. We go when we have physical ailments and MI is the same. I hope these AD work better for you.

Thanks Mary
How long did your costochondritis take to get better? It's really hard with anxiety not to think it's the heart but hearing someone else who has experienced is a bit more reassuring x

Not being medically minded I can only give you my experience. Like any inflammatory process it takes a while for everything to die down. A bit like arthritis if you have ever experienced that. Because it is the chest muscles that are inflamed, and as I said they are constantly moving, it will take longer than a more stationary part of your body, unless you can hold your breath for a week or two.
It really depends on how badly you are inflamed. I would have thought you could take an inflammatory tablet or two. I cannot because they mess my stomach about and I have a permanent condition from that. I bet you are so jealous.
I suggest no strenuous activity that makes you breath more quickly and more strenuously. It will add to the pain and take longer to heal. If you are going to see your doctor soon ask him/her for more information.
If you were having a heart attack it would be over by now. The symptoms sound alike but there are differences which is why the doc can say precisely why you hurt. Being anxious will aggravate the condition I imagine because you will be breathing more quickly. Sit down and meditate.
Remember when you have toothache and there is the constant need to keep touching to see if it has gone away? Try pressing bits of your chest (gently) especially the middle. It should hurt in various places meaning it's not your heart which hurts all the time whether or not you press in that area.
