Lately at school I've just been getting bad results and I've just been plunging into a spiral. I don't want to tell anyone because I'm afraid they'll judge but know I feel like I'm not smart enough. I know it seems like a little thing but it eats at me everyday because everyone else around me is smarter.

Hi Guest_349
I'm sorry to hear you are struggling with bad results at school. Have the teachers spoken to you about this? I am just wondering if they should be providing you with some extra support. That's what teachers are there for, please don't feel like your not smart enough. Everyone has to start somewhere and the only way to improve in these circumstances is to reach out for help.

Hey Guest_349,
I'm going to tell you the truth.
Your mental health affects your grades and you are not to blame for it. When you feel down it means your demotivated and tired. Going through all those difficult emotions and thoughts is and is nothing less than exhausting. When your dealing with so much and you have to balance your grades as well, it becomes extremely difficult and that doesn't make you anything less than smart. It just means you're busier than everyone else at your school, because they might not feel the way you do. It's like running a marathon 20 times over with no break and then still having to sit down and process school work. It's not your fault and you should know that.
I recommend you let a trusted teacher know so that they have a reason as to why your struggling at school and so they can devise a plan to keep you on track working around your anxiety. It might seem daunting but I'm sure your grades are worth the effort. You don't have to specify anything just let them know that you are struggling with your emotions and you don't think the scheme of work is at a matched pace.
I hope it all works out and you find the courage to accept that it isn't your fault you might be falling behind,
Yours_truly

Hi there,
I am sorry this is happening, it must be hard for you. School can feel like a lot of pressure and it is hard when you feel like everyone around you is succeeding. But how do you know that? They could be feeling the same way and are afraid to tell anyone also - so you don't know! Everyone has their own personal battles, and that is why it is important to be kind.
Do you have a school counselor or someone to talk to about this? Would you consider asking your teacher for some help?
I hope things improve soon,
Jaz xx

Hi Guest_349
As everyone else has advised above, you are not alone in these feelings and everyone else is not smarter or doing better. I should imagine a lot of them are feeling the same and have just not had your courage to speak out. I work within a student support area and am extremely busy every day supporting students who are struggling with their studies. A lot of these students are struggling with understanding the work and when they get low grades their mental health deteriorates and they get very hard on themselves.
Most education providers have a lot of support available for students for both understanding the study and managing mental health. I really encourage you to make some enquiries about what support is available for you.
Data has shown, successful students are students who seek support and I know this is true from the work I do every day. The support is there because it is known that students will struggle at some time - and that is the majority of students at some time.
You don't have to go it alone - reach out and see what is around for you. You have been so brave opening up here, find the courage for the next step and seek support where you study.
